This is a public health issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Fauci to CNN+ on Judge Mizelle striking down the CDC&#8217;s mask mandate: &#8220;We are concerned about that about the courts getting involved in things that are unequivocally a public health decision\u2026This is a CDC issue, should not have been a court issue\u2026It was perfectly logical.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hn19pAV2Vw\">pic.twitter.com\/hn19pAV2Vw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CurtisHouck\/status\/1517248938981703680?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at the rationale for that, it really is not particularly firm, and we are concerned about that, about courts getting involved in things that are unequivocally a public health decision,\u201d Fauci continued during a CNN+ interview. \u201cThis is a CDC issue, should not have been a court issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci insisted that the CDC\u2019s May 3 end to the mask date should have been honored.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we are hoping that the inevitable increase in cases which we are seeing are not going to be associated with an increase in hospitalizations,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, all of these dynamic things going on at the same time, it was perfectly logical for the CDC to say wait a minute, we were planning on ending this mandate on a certain date, let\u2019s wait a period of time until May 3, which was a very sound public health decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His remarks were met with outrage by social media users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs there a time, any time, regarding any power, that it IS appropriate for the checks and balances system we have to check the CDC\u2019s \u2018sound public-health decisions,\u2019 according to Fauci,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mkhammer\/status\/1517254497097031684\">asked<\/a> commentator Mary Katherine Ham. \u201cHe seems to indicate no. But his personal judgment is not a workable limiting principle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Fauci really shouldn\u2019t be commenting on issues that are unequivocally statutory authority issues,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattdizwhitlock\/status\/1517246207659319302\">tweeted<\/a> communications consultant Matt Whitlock.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Absolutely insane. Dangerous lunacy. It\u2019s long past time for Fauci to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fauci-you-use-lockdowns-to-get-people-vaccinated\">also sparked a backlash<\/a> last week when he said that governments use lockdowns to \u201cget people vaccinated\u201d as he discussed China\u2019s heavily restrictive coronavirus lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci said that China has a \u201cnumber of problems,\u201d noting that the country\u2019s strict lockdowns would never be able to be implemented in the United States, \u201calthough that prevents the spread of infection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember early on they were saying, and I think accurately, that they were doing better than almost anyone else,\u201d Fauci said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut lockdown has its consequences,\u201d he continued. \u201cYou use lockdowns to get people vaccinated so that when you open up, you won\u2019t have a surge of infections, because you are dealing with an immunologically na\u00efve population, to the virus, because they\u2019ve not really been exposed because of the lockdown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
