And they said, &#8216;Well, we made a little mistake.&#8217; It wasn&#8217;t a mistake at all. It was being caught.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>DePerno became the face of the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/michigan-antrim-county-2020-election-lawsuit-discovery-fight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">battle against officials<\/a> over election results in Antrim County, a jurisdiction in northern Michigan with about 23,000 residents, in a lawsuit that initially focused on a local marijuana retailer proposal. He and his client, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/michigan-antrim-county-2020-election-lawsuit-discovery-fight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antrim County resident William Bailey<\/a>, alleged that the county voting machines <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/michigan-attorney-explosive-evidence-antrim-county-2020-election-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were hacked<\/a>, changing the votes, spurred on by the results initially showing President Joe Biden winning the race. But tabulation errors were quickly discovered, and once rectified, Trump was shown to be the victor. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/mccarthy-said-he-would-tell-trump-to-resign-after-capitol-riot-book\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MCCARTHY SAID HE WOULD TELL TRUMP TO RESIGN AFTER CAPITOL RIOT: BOOK<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>State and county officials have blamed human error, a failure to update software properly across the county, for the mishap. The case was dismissed last year by 13th Circuit Court Judge Kevin Elsenheimer, after the plaintiffs were allowed to proceed with <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/michigan-attorney-explosive-evidence-antrim-county-2020-election-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a \u201cforensic audit\u201d<\/a> of the Dominion Voting Systems machines in the county on Dec. 6, 2020. Dominion CEO John Poulos <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/antrim-county-voting-machine-report-from-michigan-referred-to-jan-6-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blasted the report<\/a>, which claimed there was a error rate of 68.05%, in a hearing with Michigan lawmakers, testifying that the findings were \u201ccategorically false\u201d and released by a \u201cbiased group.\u201d His company has <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/dominion-wont-rule-out-lawsuit-against-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filed multiple defamation lawsuits<\/a> since the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>DePerno&#8217;s lawsuit wasn&#8217;t quite dead on Wednesday after he appealed and arguments were made last week in court about whether there is a need for more audits. However, on Thursday, a Michigan Court of Appeals panel <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LisaRooseChurch\/status\/1517176839034347520\">rejected the appeal<\/a>. DePerno had been <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/trump-backed-michigan-ag-candidate-promotes-active-2020-election-fraud-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">touting the litigation<\/a> as he campaigns ahead of the Michigan GOP convention this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>DePerno is facing off against former House Speaker Tom Leonard and state Rep. Ryan Berman on the Republican side in a bid to unseat Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel. All three GOP candidates said they support a &#8220;forensic audit&#8221; of the 2020 contest in Michigan, a state won by Biden by more than 150,000 votes, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/michigan-government\/donald-trump-looms-large-michigan-gop-braces-convention-battle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to <\/a><i><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/michigan-government\/donald-trump-looms-large-michigan-gop-braces-convention-battle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bridge Michigan<\/a><\/i>. However, only one has Trump&#8217;s endorsement.<\/p>\n<p>DePerno is a &#8220;conservative warrior and will never let you down,&#8221; Trump said in a plea to GOP delegates. \u201cThis choice is not just about 2022.
