Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said that \u201cwe have the laptop,\u201d and \u201cin the meantime, we\u2019re investigating.\u201d Issa described the findings on the laptop as a \u201ctreasure trove\u201d before saying that \u201cwe\u2019re going to need a special prosecutor\u201d to look into other allegations about Biden\u2019s business dealings in various countries, including China.<\/p>\n<p>On the laptop is \u201cdirect communication between [President Joe Biden] and his son,\u201d \u201ca good dive into how sick and vulnerable Hunter Biden was,\u201d and \u201csome of the things he did,\u201d Issa said, adding that there were photos on the hard drive that allegedly showed the younger Biden\u2019s \u201cdrug stash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the younger Biden has denied any wrongdoing in his business dealings, he has publicly admitted to having struggled with substance abuse in the past. President Biden, meanwhile, has categorically denied his son was involved in any improper business arrangements and has maintained he had no knowledge or communication about any deals.<\/p>\n<p>Issa said that there were business deals that \u201cwent forward\u201d for Hunter Biden, including a deal with the wife of the former mayor of Moscow \u201cand including China\u201d as he was dealing with drug problems.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI said it took possession of the actual hardware after the owner, suspected to be Hunter Biden, left it for repairs at a Delaware shop in 2019 and never returned for it.<\/p>\n<p>Its existence was first reported on in October 2020\u2014just days before the general election between Joe Biden and then-President Donald Trump\u2014by the New York Post before Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms moved to limit the Post\u2019s article\u2019s reach. Twitter also locked the newspaper out of its account for more than two weeks, although Hunter Biden\u2019s business was heavily referenced in the second presidential debate between Trump and Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in March, however, the New York Times, Washington Post, and other outlets claimed to have confirmed the laptop\u2019s authenticity, driving renewed interest in the younger Biden\u2019s business deals overseas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/republicans-plan-to-investigate-hunter-biden-laptop-story-issa_4365473.html\">Last month<\/a>, Issa confirmed to news outlets that he sent record and document preservation requests to Big Tech companies, White House aides, and former U.S. intelligence officials in connection to the New York Post\u2019s story and whether it was artificially suppressed online ahead of the election.<\/p>\n<p>The Post\u2019s report stipulated that emails sourced from the laptop suggested there was a meeting between\u00a0Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Ukrainian business leaders.
