The candidates are largely running competitive districts, both urban and rural.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHispanic voters are realizing that the Democrats are moving further to the left nationally and in the state, and that the conservative Hispanic voters align with us much more,\u201d Steve Pearce, chair of the Republican Party of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/17\/new-mexico-gov-michelle-lujan-grisham-abruptly-drops-mask-mandates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Mexico<\/a>, told Axios.<\/p>\n<p>The GOP has attempted to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/29\/exclusive-republican-national-committee-reaches-out-to-12-million-voters-ahead-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">court more Hispanics<\/a> ahead of the midterms in the aftermath of former President Donald Trump\u2019s gains with the demographic in the 2020 presidential election. (Photo by MANDEL NGAN\/POOL\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Democratic Party of New Mexico spokesperson Delaney Corcoran told Axios the GOP\u2019s number of Hispanic candidates was insignificant compared to the number of Hispanics already representing her party in the state legislature. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/05\/florida-charlie-crist-ron-desantis-latinos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018Wrought With Entitlement\u2019: Florida Dems Forced Back To The Drawing Board Over Cratering Latino Support)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now 37 out of 47 Hispanic members of the New Mexico legislature are Democrats, and this year more than 40 Hispanic Democrats are running for state House,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Democrats have been focused on the kinds of kitchen-table issues that make a difference to all New Mexicans, Republicans have been spewing extremist rhetoric, sowing division, and alienating New Mexicans,\u201d Corcoran added.<\/p>\n<p>A significant number of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/06\/gop-hispanic-female-candidates-texas-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hispanic women<\/a> could end up representing the Republican Party on the midterm ballot in Texas, as well.
