There is no record of such a UFO being spotted in Antarctica.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook video, which has been viewed over 27,000 times, appears to show a metallic disk-shaped object flying over a body of water before ascending into the sky and out of view of the camera. \u201cUFO seen during a reconnaissance flight in Antarctica,\u201d the caption reads.<\/p>\n<p>The video is a digital creation, however, not real footage. A reverse image search found the video first originated on VFX artist Colton Kirkegaard\u2019s TikTok page in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@coltonkirk.mov\/video\/6929911126411005190\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">February 2021<\/a>. While the video itself does not disclose that it was created by special effects, Kirkegaard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@coltonkirk.mov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TikTok profile<\/a> identifies himself as a \u201cVFX\/Previs artist\u201d and that his videos are all \u201coriginal content\u201d and \u201cJust for fun, in my spare time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The purported footage also appears on Kirekgaard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kirkegaard.vfx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram page<\/a> in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CL957_7B96-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a> from March 2021 with hashtags listing the video as a digital rendering. \u201cFully rendered in Unreal Engine 4,\u201d the post caption claims, referring to a well-known three-dimensional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unrealengine.com\/en-US\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">creation tool<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CL957_7B96-\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kirkegaard\u2019s Instagram also features <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CLR6bkpB5R_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">several<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CMFTd1ZhRS2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">other<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CTIPLigJBzO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">videos<\/a> of purported UFO sightings that are listed as special effects videos, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWRNL2-hURS\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one<\/a> that appears to show a UFO hovering over Palm Springs.<\/p>\n<p>There are no credible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=ufo+antartica+video&#038;sxsrf=APq-WBsobSU-_Leao4ugk0jk8bUBP6BjDQ%3A1650544405528&#038;ei=FU9hYt-OH9yoptQPoOK8kAc&#038;ved=0ahUKEwif7eeHlaX3AhVclIkEHSAxD3IQ4dUDCA4&#038;uact=5&#038;oq=ufo+antartica+video&#038;gs_lcp=Cgxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAQA0oECEEYAUoECEYYAFCSA1jXCWDXCmgBcAB4AIABTYgBkgOSAQE2mAEAoAEBwAEB&#038;sclient=gws-wiz-serp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news reports<\/a> commenting on the video or verifying the legitimacy of such a recent discovery in Antarctica. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/03\/04\/fact-check-international-space-station-ufo-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did The International Space Station Film A UFO For 22 Minutes?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact reached out to Kirkegaard for comment and will update this article if a response is provided.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video\u00a0shared on Facebook allegedly shows footage of a UFO flying in Antarctica.Verdict: False The video is a digital creation.
