Dhillon, have sent Sen. Her treasonous lies may well cost lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MittRomney\/status\/1503113473819041796?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhillonlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220420_CDletter_Gabbard_Romney_Final.pdf\"> letter sent by Dhillon<\/a>, Romney was advised, \u201cYour accusation that Representative Gabbard, a combat veteran and current military officer, has engaged in \u2018treasonous\u2019 activity is completely false, a fact of which you were well aware when you made your claim. And as explained below, your accusation that Representative Gabbard lied also has no basis in fact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour allegation that Representative Gabbard spoke \u2018treasonous lies\u2019 is clear-cut defamation,\u201d Dhillon added. Romney\u2019s tweet appears to be in response to a video Gabbard released that discussed U.S.-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>To that extent, Dhillon added that his accusation claiming Gabbard told lies is \u201cfalse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn her video, Representative Gabbard made the factual claim that there were American-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine,\u201d Dhillon said. \u201cThe existence of biological laboratories in Ukraine is beyond dispute,\u201d she added before providing evidence for such a claim.<\/p>\n<p>Dhillon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhillonlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220420_CDletter_Gabbard_Olbermann_Final.pdf\">letter to Olbermann<\/a> noted that on March 14, \u201cthe Twitter account @LibWatchDog posted a video in which hosts of the View made outlandish statements suggesting that the Department of Justice should investigate Representative Gabbard, along with Fox News Host Tucker Carlson.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Olbermann responded to that tweet, saying \u201cThey are Russian Assets and there is a war. There\u2019s a case for detaining them militarily. Trials are a sign of good faith and patience on the part of democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dhillon informed the former MSNBC host that he \u201cacted with actual malice when you defamed Representative Gabbard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepresentative Gabbard\u2019s loyalty to the United States is beyond reproach, and you either knew your description of her as a \u2018Russian Asset\u2019 was false when you made it, or you acted in reckless disregard as to her allegiance to the United States,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Dhillon also told Olbermann that while Gabbard \u201cbelieves that free speech is a cornerstone of American democracy, your accusation that she is a \u2018Russian Asset\u2019 is far outside of the bounds of free speech and civility. It is defamation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Gabbard\u2019s legal representative, the former congresswoman would prefer to settle this dispute out of court. Both Olbermann and Romney have until April 27 to respond to the cease and desist letters.
