When last we left you in the saga, we noted that he <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/nick-arama\/2022\/04\/18\/prepare-for-the-twitter-board-meltdown-from-elons-latest-remarks-n551855\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would eliminate salaries\/compensation<\/a> for the Twitter board if he takes over, which might explain why they would not be enthusiastic about a deal<\/p>\n<p>Musk himself dropped another clue as to what he was going to do, with the following tweet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">_______ is the Night<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1516620752040116231?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s kind of fun to play \u201cguess the plan.\u201d The NY Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/20\/elon-musks-cryptic-tweet-teases-next-move-in-twitter-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">may have figured out the answer<\/a>: \u201cTender is the Night\u201d \u2014 a famous novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and later made into a movie. That is an indication that Musk is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/t\/tenderoffer.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">planning a tender offer<\/a>: an effort to go around the board and directly to the shareholders.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A tender offer often occurs when an investor proposes buying shares from every shareholder of a publicly traded company for a certain price at a certain time. The investor normally offers a higher price per share than the company\u2019s stock price, providing shareholders a greater incentive to sell their shares.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Musk had previously tweeted, \u201cLove me Tender\u201d \u2014 another indication of where he might be going.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83c\udfb6 Love Me Tender \ud83c\udfb6<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1515405264740134918?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The NY Post also notes that the latest \u201cclue\u201d may have another meaning as well \u2014 that 4\/20 is a meme for pot smokers that Elon often likes to refer to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/19\/elon-musk-scrambles-to-find-backers-for-twitter-takeover-sources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to the Post,<\/a> Musk is working on a \u201ccomplex deal that raises debt against both the company and possibly his stock, as well as a giant cash equity infusion from co-investors.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Musk himself is willing to invest between $10 billion and $15 billion of his own cash to take Twitter private, two sources close to the situation said.
