McMorrow, responding to a fundraising email in which State Senator Lana Theis had reportedly accused her of \u201cgrooming and sexualizing children.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Senator Lana Theis accused me by name of grooming and sexualizing children in an attempt to marginalize me for standing up against her marginalizing the LGBTQ community\u2026in a fundraising email, for herself. <\/p>\n<p>Hate wins when people like me stand by and let it happen. I won&#8217;t. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jL5GU42bTv\">pic.twitter.com\/jL5GU42bTv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mallory McMorrow (@MalloryMcMorrow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MalloryMcMorrow\/status\/1516453738403143681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 19, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wallace argued that Theis\u2019 argument was the same one that DeSantis was using to promote Florida\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/shocked-it-only-protects-children-until-third-grade-tulsi-gabbard-reacts-to-florida-parental-rights-law\/\">recently-passed<\/a> Parental Rights in Education law, which bans classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation for students in kindergarten through third grade. DeSantis\u2019 office and a number of those <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/how-disney-got-caught-in-floridas-anti-grooming-bill-crossfire\/\">in favor of the law<\/a> have referred to anyone who advocated pushing such lessons on children as \u201cgroomers\u201d as well, also arguing that they meant to \u201csexualize\u201d children.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">MSNBC&#8217;s Nicolle Wallace compares Youngkin and DeSantis&#8217; legislation to Russian soldiers raping children. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The truth is dehumanization as a tactic for politics is from war. Russians get the soldiers to rape children by dehumanizing them.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kFrQ5gDUWE\">pic.twitter.com\/kFrQ5gDUWE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Washington Free Beacon (@FreeBeacon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FreeBeacon\/status\/1516874104934125569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cYou and I even fall into a tradition of our profession of focusing on what works and I think we recently had a conversation about Mitch McConnell and why does he do what he does, because it works, it\u2019s a political reality,\u201d Wallace began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI worry that in covering Glenn Youngkin and his politics of \u2018parental choice,\u2019 all the focus was on how well it worked,\u201d Wallace continued. \u201cAnd even in our conversations about DeSantis it\u2019s about how well they\u2019re serving him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is dehumanization, as a tactic for politics, is from war,\u201d Wallace added. \u201cDehumanization is \u2014 it\u2019s a tactic, it\u2019s being used right now. The Russians get their soldiers to rape children by dehumanizing them. Dehumanization as a practice is a tactic of war. It is being deployed in politics and people like you and I sometimes lose the plot and admire its effective \u2014 not its substance, but even the analysis of these tactics loses sight of what this speech brings us back to which is that dehumanization has a cost right now. Right now, as it\u2019s deployed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wallace went on to mention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nbc-out\/out-news\/chasten-buttigieg-says-floridas-dont-say-gay-bill-will-push-kids-back-rcna13463\">comments<\/a> made by <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/buttigieg-tells-the-view-co-host-he-agrees-parents-rights-law-in-florida-will-kill-kids\/\">Chasten Buttigieg<\/a>, who alleged that legislation like Florida\u2019s Parental Rights in Education law would ultimately risk the lives of children.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cThis will kill kids, <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">@RonDeSantisFL<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">. You are purposefully making your state a harder place for LGBTQ kids to survive in. In a national survey (<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">@TrevorProject<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">), 42% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide last year. Now they can\u2019t talk to their teachers?\u201d Buttigieg tweeted, despite the fact that the law only bans official instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation but does not ban students from talking about those topics with anyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cKids will die.
