The president, speaking to reporters Tuesday afternoon, said masking is \u201cup to\u201d the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president was answering the question quite literally, which means right now \u2013 as you know \u2013 we are not implementing the mask mandate because of the court order, which we disagree with, while he [Biden] is still abiding by CDC guidance,\u201d Psaki said when pressed on Biden\u2019s comments during Wednesday\u2019s press briefing. \u201cAnd we recommend Americans do that across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Psaki was also pressed on whether Biden\u2019s comment marked a \u201cshift\u201d in White House messaging on masks. The press secretary clarified the president\u2019s remarks further and maintained that the administration continues to follow CDC guidance, which recommends masking on public transportation \u2013 though Biden did not indicate such in his answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell first, I would say we continue to recommend everyone wear masks on planes. What the president was speaking to is, of course, because we are not currently implementing the mask mandate, it is not a requirement, so people can choose \u2013 even as we recommend it,\u201d Psaki responded. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/16\/joe-biden-airline-mask-mandate-hepa-filters-congress\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0The Biden Administration Is Ignoring The Science On Airplane Masking)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut to be clear, we are recommending everyone wear masks on planes. That is what the CDC is recommending.
