Shifts occurred in districts that were previously considered safer for Democrats, like Nevada Rep. Susie Lee\u2019s 3rd Congressional District, as well as those previously thought to be competitive for Republicans, like Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales\u2019 23rd Congressional District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur main question about the House continues to be not whether Republicans will flip the House \u2014 although we would not completely shut the door on Democrats\u2019 retaining control if the political environment improves markedly \u2014 but rather how big the Republicans\u2019 eventual majority will be,\u201d wrote Kyle Kondik, managing editor of election forecaster Sabato\u2019s Crystal Ball.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">NEW at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CookPolitical?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CookPolitical<\/a>: we\u2019ve made eight House rating changes, all in Republicans\u2019 direction \u2013 including three Dem incumbents moving from Lean D to Toss Up. Three Democratic incumbents, such as Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia\u2019s 7th Congressional District, had their races shifted from \u201clean Democrat\u201d to \u201ctoss-up.\u201d Overall, 27 seats held by <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/08\/catherine-cortez-masto-nevada-adam-laxalt-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Democrats<\/a> are considered to be toss-ups or worse, while only 12 seats held by Republicans are labeled the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden\u2019s approval rating remains stuck at 42 percent, and if anything the political environment has deteriorated for Democrats since January as inflation concerns have soared and Build Back Better has stalled,\u201d CPR\u2019s senior editor David Wasserman wrote.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/15\/kathy-hochul-andrew-cuomo-republicans-governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: NY Dems Are Such A Mess Republicans Might Actually Win The Governorship)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means no Democrat in a single-digit Biden (or Trump-won) district is secure, and even some seats Biden carried by double-digit margins in 2020 could come into play this fall, giving the GOP surprising \u2018reach\u2019 opportunities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The shifts are the latest bit of bad news for Democrats, as <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/13\/cook-political-report-kathy-hochul-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CPR<\/a> originally projected the party to net four to five seats from redistricting alone, but <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/30\/democrats-lose-redistricting-maryland-ohio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decreased<\/a> its prediction in March to only one or two after court cases affected congressional maps in Ohio and Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
