Sam Bell, citing a poll showing Rhode Islanders \u201cstill strongly support a universal vaccine mandate,\u201d said \u201cit\u2019s time for us to pass my mandate bill. Cases are rising again. Surrender isn\u2019t working. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hxXkgF8bcG\">pic.twitter.com\/hxXkgF8bcG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sam Bell (@SamuelWBell) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SamuelWBell\/status\/1516025750775808013?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/webserver.rilin.state.ri.us\/BillText\/BillText22\/SenateText22\/S2552.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bill<\/a>, introduced in March, would mandate everyone 16 and older who is eligible for the vaccine and lives in, works in or pays personal income taxes to the state get the jab. \u00a0Those under 16 or \u201cunder guardianship shall be required to be immunized against COVID-19, with the responsibility for ensuring compliance falling on all parents or guardians with medical consent powers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For individuals who fail to comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/08\/appeals-court-vaccine-mandate-federal-workers-employees-joe-biden-covid-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mandate<\/a>, the legislation proposed a \u201cmonthly civil penalty of fifty dollars\u201d and violators \u201cshall owe twice the amount of personal income taxes as would otherwise be assessed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Employers who do not require <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/17\/four-gop-senators-no-shows-defund-vaccine-mandates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">proof of vaccination<\/a> would be subject to monthly $5,000 fines for every violation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/09\/covid-19-mask-vaccine-no-major-difference-case-rate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Vaccines, Masks, Staying At Home Did Not Make A Major Difference In COVID Case Rates, NYT Writer Says)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two senators who signed onto the bill have since removed their names, <a href=\"https:\/\/turnto10.com\/politics\/rhode-island-covid-19-coronavirus-vaccination-requirement-mandate-jonathon-acosta-tiara-mack-sam-bell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBC 10 News<\/a> reported.
