Musk\u2019s offer of $54.20 per share was roughly $10 above the social media giant\u2019s stock price at the time, which DeSantis said represented a \u201cmassive return\u201d for shareholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, most people and their investment vehicles are not making 20% in a year,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/florida\/2022\/04\/19\/florida-considers-action-as-twitter-stakeholder-after-elon-musks-takeover-bid-rejected-desantis-says\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cThey rejected it because they know they can\u2019t control Elon Musk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cThey know that he will not accept the narrative and that their little play toy of Twitter, it would not be used to enforce orthodoxy, and to basically prop up the regime and these failed legacy media outlets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis, while not getting into specifics, said he would direct state finance officials to begin looking at ways to hold Twitter\u2019s board accountable based on Florida\u2019s Twitter holdings. He said the pension system has not seen large gains and Floridians can\u2019t afford to miss out on a strong return on public investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been pretty stagnant for many, many years,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/desantis-hold-twitter-board-accountable-musk-buyout-bid\">said<\/a>. \u201cTo me, I think that\u2019s probably an injury to the fund, so we\u2019re gonna be looking at ways that the state of Florida, potentially, can be holding this Twitter board of directors accountable for breaching their fiduciary duty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/former-twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-lashes-out-at-twitters-board-as-elon-musk-tries-to-buy-company\">slammed<\/a> Twitter\u2019s board in a tweet over the weekend for the problems he claims they have caused the company.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey was responding to the following tweet when he made his remark, \u201cIf look into the history of Twitter board, it\u2019s intriguing as I was a witness on its early beginnings, mired in plots and coups, and particularly amongst Twitter\u2019s founding members.
