The commander-in-chief frequently touts his upbringing in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to sympathize with Americans over economic hardships \u2014 even when those hardships are of his own creation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During his State of the Union <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/state-of-the-union-2022\/\"><span>address<\/span><\/a><span>, for example, Biden responded to the \u201crising cost of food, gas, housing, and so much more\u201d by reminding the American people that his father had to move one time due to unemployment. \u201cI understand,\u201d he insisted. \u201cI get it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Among the people most impacted by Biden\u2019s policies, however, have been rural Americans. Despite the White House\u2019s best efforts to pander to the demographic through their \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/04\/11\/biden-administration-releases-rural-playbook-launches-building-a-better-america-rural-infrastructure-tour-to-highlight-impact-of-bipartisan-infrastructure-law-on-rural-america\/\"><span>Rural Playbook<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d of infrastructure funding and other initiatives, middle America often finds itself the victim of the Biden agenda \u2014 from environmental policy and rising price levels to overt racial discrimination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Soaring Gas Prices<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>President Biden has been no friend to American oil and gas production, pursuing policies like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/keystone-pipeline-dead-killed-by-biden-thousands-of-jobs-lost\"><span>revoking<\/span><\/a><span> a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-admin-likely-to-restart-oil-and-gas-leases-after-federal-court-ruling\"><span>limiting<\/span><\/a><span> new domestic drilling leases. Instead, the Biden administration has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/canadian-energy-official-to-biden-why-look-to-venezuela-saudi-arabia-for-oil-were-right-next-door\"><span>solicited<\/span><\/a><span> despotic nations like Venezuela and Saudi Arabia in its endeavor to increase fuel supply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>No group has been hurt more by skyrocketing gas prices than rural Americans, who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aese.psu.edu\/nardep\/publications\/policy-briefs\/rural-energy-use-and-the-challenges-for-energy-conservation-and-efficiency\"><span>drive<\/span><\/a><span> 7,000 more miles and use 330 more gallons of gasoline than their urban counterparts each year. From the time Biden took office to the present, the price of gas has increased from $2.38 per gallon to $4.09 per gallon, according to the most recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/dnav\/pet\/hist\/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&#038;s=EMM_EPMR_PTE_NUS_DPG&#038;f=W\"><span>data<\/span><\/a><span> from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Rural Americans have therefore seen their annual fuel expenditures increase more than $560 per year beyond any increases experienced by urbanites. What advice does the Biden administration have for rural Americans? Just buy a Tesla.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe people who stand to benefit most from owning an EV,\u201d Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/buttigieg-electric-cars-will-make-it-so-americans-never-have-to-worry-about-gas-prices-again\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> last November, \u201care often rural residents who have the longest distances to drive, they burn the most gas\u2026 they would gain the most by having that vehicle. These are the very residents who have not always been connected to electric vehicles that are viewed as kind of a luxury item.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Buttigieg \u2014 who fails to mention that electric vehicles cost on average, $15,000 more than a gas vehicle \u2014 is convinced that as firms build more American-made electric vehicles, they will become \u201cless expensive for everybody.\u201d In the meantime, rural Americans can bite the bullet and shell out greater shares of their earnings at the pump.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Record Inflation<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Rising price levels \u2014 now increasing at an 8.5% <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/consumer-prices-soar-8-5-in-march-highest-hike-since-1981\"><span>clip<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 have devastated virtually every American household. Yet those in rural areas have felt their pocketbooks get lighter than their urban peers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to an analysis from Bank of America, rural Americans saw their purchasing power <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/inflation-rural-households-non-college-grads-hardest\/\"><span>drop<\/span><\/a><span> 5.2% on an annualized basis as of December 2021 \u2014 compared to a 3.5% drop for urbanites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The analysis also found that rural households spend more on food, energy, cars, and household furnishings \u2014 the same categories that have seen the most pronounced price increases. Indeed, the most recent consumer price index <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\"><span>report<\/span><\/a><span> from the U.S. Department of Labor showed that food prices increased 8.8% over the past year. Meanwhile, energy prices increased 32%, used car and truck prices increased 35.3%, and furniture prices increased 10.1%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>President Biden, however, has repeatedly downplayed the federal government\u2019s role in fostering an inflationary environment. Since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict, Biden has found a convenient scapegoat in Russian President Vladimir Putin. \u201cToday\u2019s inflation report is a reminder that Americans\u2018 budgets are being stretched by price increases and families are starting to feel the impacts of Putin\u2019s price hike,\u201d Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/03\/10\/statement-by-president-biden-on-consumer-price-index-in-february\/\"><span>declared<\/span><\/a><span> last month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>More recently, Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/im-sick-of-this-stuff-biden-complains-that-the-american-people-believe-increased-government-spending-causes-inflation\"><span>shouted<\/span><\/a><span> that he was \u201csick of\u201d Americans believing that \u201cthe reason for inflation is government spending more money.\u201d The scorn, however, goes both ways. The commander-in-chief presently has a 70% <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/70-disapprove-of-bidens-handling-of-gas-prices-inflation-poll\"><span>disapproval<\/span><\/a><span> rating with respect to inflation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Land Grabs<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>At the end of last year, the Biden administration unveiled its \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/12\/20\/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-celebrates-expansion-of-locally-led-conservation-efforts-in-first-year-of-america-the-beautiful-initiative\/\"><span>30 x 30<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d initiative \u2014 which was later rebranded as \u201cAmerica the Beautiful.\u201d The plan endeavors to devote 30% of American land and water for conservation by 2030. Rural farmers, however, see the initiative as a \u201cland grab.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As President Biden heard comments from Native American tribes, farmers, ranchers, and conservation groups, many expressed their opposition to the plan. Agriculture advocate and sixth-generation Nebraska farmer Trent Loos, for example, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kxnet.com\/news\/top-stories\/30-by-30-farm-groups-calling-it-a-land-grab\/\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> that the federal government has no constitutional mandate in directing communities\u2019 conservation efforts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>State governments have expressed similar concerns. Gov. Pete Ricketts (R-NE), for example, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/governor.nebraska.gov\/press\/30-x-30-land-grab\"><span>noted<\/span><\/a><span> last summer that the \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d plan is extraordinarily vague, leading him and 15 other governors to contact President Biden for clarification. No response was received.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cTo date, much of what we do know about the administration\u2019s plans comes from the environmental groups who invented this goal,\u201d Ricketts explained. \u201cEnvironmental groups have been talking about conserving wide swaths of natural resources for quite some time.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to Ricketts\u2019 office, over half of Nebraska counties have passed resolutions formally opposing 30 x 30, while the state government will provide training to counties to help them stop the initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In Congress, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asas.org\/taking-stock\/blog-post\/taking-stock\/2021\/06\/28\/no-land-grab-act-of-2021-and-30x30-termination-act-introduced\"><span>introduced<\/span><\/a><span> the \u201c30 x 30 Termination Act,\u201d while Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) introduced the adjacent \u201cNo Land Grab Act.\u201d The law would block federal funds from carrying out the program and ensure no net loss of non-federal land in states that already contain over 15% federal land, among other provisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Racial Discrimination<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>President Biden\u2019s American Rescue Plan included $4 billion in debt relief payments for \u201csocially disadvantaged\u201d farmers \u2014 which included those of black, Hispanic, American Indian, and Asian-American descent. Yet the $1.9 trillion legislation apparently could not spare some change for white farmers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis program is discriminatory because it bases eligibility for loan forgiveness solely on the basis of being a member of a minority group, regardless of your circumstances,\u201d Pacific Legal Foundation attorney Wen Fa <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2021\/06\/23\/black-farmers-debt-relief-preliminary-injunction\/\"><span>explained<\/span><\/a><span> last year. \u201cIf you\u2019re a White farmer, regardless of your circumstances, you are categorically ineligible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The program immediately triggered countless lawsuits and court injunctions \u2014 and rightly so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Republican Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, for example, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/texas-official-sues-biden-administration-for-discriminating-against-white-farmers&#039;\"><span>argued<\/span><\/a><span> in April 2021 that the racial exclusions are \u201cpatently unconstitutional\u201d and called for the immediate end of their enforcement. the complaint reads. \u201cDoing so will promote equal rights under the law for all American citizens and promote efforts to stop racial discrimination,\u201d the complaint explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Miller added that several white ethnic groups \u2014 including Irish, Italians, Germans, Jews, and eastern Europeans \u2014 have been subject to \u201cracial or ethnic prejudice because of their identity as members of a group without regard to their individual qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>By June 2021, a federal judge in Wisconsin had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/politics-news\/judge-orders-temporary-halt-4b-federal-loan-relief-program-farmers-n1270512\"><span>ordered<\/span><\/a><span> a temporary halt to the $4 billion program in response to a legal challenge from several white farmers, noting that they were \u201clikely to succeed on the merits of their claim\u201d that the U.S. Department of Agriculture\u2019s \u201cuse of race-based criteria in the administration of the program violates their right to equal protection under the law.\u201d Judges in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/judge-halts-biden-4-billion-relief-program-that-excludes-white-farmers-discrimination-based-on-race\"><span>Florida<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/a-third-judge-strikes-down-bidens-racist-farm-aid-program-that-excludes-whites?%3Futm_source=twitter&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_campaign=dwtwitter\"><span>Tennessee<\/span><\/a><span> soon followed suit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The views expressed in this opinion piece are the author\u2019s own and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although he has spent his entire adult life in the federal government, President Joe Biden insists that he deeply understands the middle class.
