Hundreds of thousands of illegal\u00a0immigrants are pouring into the United States each month\u00a0as the Biden administration works to dismantle Title 42 and\u00a0create what amounts to\u00a0an open border.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In March alone, border officials apprehended\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/national-media-release\/cbp-releases-march-2022-monthly-operational-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">221,303<\/a>\u00a0illegal border-crossers, the highest number in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/immigration-border-arrests-cubans-nicaraguans-colombians-22-year-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">22 years<\/a>. That\u2019s a\u00a0more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/southwest-land-border-encounters\">33 percent increase<\/a> from February when officials arrested 165,894 migrants at the border.<\/p>\n<p>Of those March apprehensions, 76 percent were single adults, which is also a 33 percent increase since February. Arrests involving family units in March skyrocketed 42 percent from the previous month, while those involving unaccompanied minors increased 18 percent in the same timeframe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seizures of fentanyl also increased 55 percent as fentanyl-induced overdoses, especially in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsph.harvard.edu\/news\/hsph-in-the-news\/fentanyl-deaths-on-the-rise-among-teens-especially-black-teens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">black teens<\/a>, are on the rise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just six months into the 2022 fiscal year, border officials have arrested approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/nationwide-encounters#\">1,217,802<\/a> illegal border crossers. That puts the U.S. on track to record more than 2 million encounters by the end of the fiscal year in September.<\/p>\n<p>Much like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/08\/no-matter-if-title-42-stays-or-goes-a-massive-migrant-influx-is-coming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2.5 million migrants<\/a>\u00a0who have already illegally entered and stayed in the U.S since Biden assumed office, most of these new migrants who are caught illegally crossing the border will be allowed to remain without significant consequences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Others, such as the 300,000 \u201cgot-aways\u201d recorded by border officials since October and other undetected migrants, will not be apprehended at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2021 alone, approximately\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admin-migrants-released-into-us-2021-failed-report-ice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">47,000 migrants<\/a>\u00a0were released into the United States because of Biden\u2019s policies but did not report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement on time or at all, as they were required to do. That same year, federal law enforcement\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/19\/23-suspected-terrorists-were-stopped-on-the-southern-border-in-2021-how-many-werent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arrested<\/a>\u00a0at least 23 suspected terrorists illegally crossing the southern border.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even more arrests and releases are expected this year as the Biden administration plans to rescind Title 42, the public health order designed to expedite the expulsion of illegal border crossers during the Covid-19 pandemic.\u00a0Title 42 will be canceled\u00a0on May 23,\u00a0and as of now, there is no real\u00a0plan for how to handle the\u00a0surge of migrants it will\u00a0draw to the border.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans and Democrats alike have begged the Biden administration to rein in this border crisis. Instead, the White House<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>appears to be doubling down on its open-border policies while continuing to vilify\u00a0Border Patrol agents who are charged with maintaining order along the Rio Grande.
