James Clyburn has distributed more than $200,000 in campaign funds to entities controlled by his relatives, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.<\/p>\n<p>Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives, has made 15 rental payments to a company controlled by a daughter and son-in-law, and 39 direct payments to another daughter and son-in-law. Clyburn\u2019s grandson also appears to be a salaried employee, and has received twice-monthly payments from the Clyburn campaign since October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The disbursements were first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/clyburn-inc-south-carolina-dem-showers-family-members-with-over-200k-from-campaign-funds\">reported<\/a> by Fox News.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Clyburn Inc.: South Carolina Dem showers family members with over $200K from campaign funds<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R8m7Bc0aDf\">https:\/\/t.co\/R8m7Bc0aDf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Fox News (@FoxNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews\/status\/1516323966566244357?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 19, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Clyburn campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=efiling&#038;committee_id=C00255562&#038;disbursement_description=rent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paid<\/a> 49 Magnolia Blossom LLC $62,500 in 15 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=processed&#038;committee_id=C00255562&#038;recipient_name=49+magnolia+blossoms+llc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">installments<\/a> from March 2020 to January 2022 for \u201coffice rent,\u201d according to FEC filings. 49 Magnolia Blossom LLC was <a href=\"https:\/\/businessfilings.sc.gov\/BusinessFiling\/Entity\/Profile\/bac04dec-f11e-4016-89a4-150b4f0e6125\">incorporated<\/a> in 2018, with Clyburn\u2019s son-in-law Walter A. Reed listed as the company\u2019s agent. Walter Reed is married to Clyburn\u2019s daughter Jennifer Clyburn Reed, whom President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gov\/\">appointed<\/a> federal co-chair of the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission. In addition to the funds paid to his LLC, the Clyburn campaign paid $650 to Walter Reed personally for \u201coffice maintenance lighting\u201d in May 2021, Fox News noted.<\/p>\n<p>Clyburn Reed also received significant payments from the Clyburn campaign. During her father\u2019s successful 2020 re-election campaign, Clyburn Reed was paid $45,000, which the Clyburn campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=processed&#038;committee_id=C00255562&#038;recipient_name=49+magnolia+blossoms+llc&#038;recipient_name=jennifer+reed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">described<\/a> in filings as a \u201ccampaign management fee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walter and Jennifer\u2019s son, Walter A.C. Reed, was employed by the Clyburn campaign as well. Walter A.C. Reed, Rep. Clyburn\u2019s grandson, has <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00255562\/1587188\/sb\/ALL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">received<\/a> $37,500 across eleven <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=processed&#038;committee_id=C00255562&#038;recipient_name=Walter+Reed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">payments<\/a> from the campaign since October 2021. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/07\/15\/ilhan-omar-payments-tim-mynett-husband\/?page=\">(RELATED: Ilhan Omar Has Paid Her Husband\u2019s Firm Over $1.1 Million, New Records Show)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Clyburn campaign has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=processed&#038;committee_id=C00255562&#038;recipient_name=Hannibal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paid<\/a> the congressman\u2019s other daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Cecil Hannibal, a combined $90,762 for various activities dating back to 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Friends of Jim Clyburn has paid Clyburn\u2019s family members and entities they control $236,412 since 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Clyburn\u2019s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller\u2019s request for comment on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Clyburn is one of several members of Congress who have funneled money to relatives through campaign accounts in recent years. Democratic Connecticut Rep. Jahana Hayes <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/01\/fec-records-jahana-hayes-campaign-funds-family-david-crenshaw-asia-clermont\/\">paid<\/a> her adult children more than $35,000 out of campaign funds since entering Congress in 2021. Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/05\/21\/maxine-waters-campaign-funds-to-daughter\/\">paid<\/a> her daughter more than $100,000 during the 2018 election cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Idaho Rep. Russ Fulcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/news\/2020\/06\/campaigns-paying-family-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paid<\/a> family members $69,000 during the 2020 election cycle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic South Carolina Rep.
