I really would,\u201d he told the <i><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/adam-kinzinger-donald-trump-republican-party_n_62589a79e4b0723f80173a6b\">HuffPost<\/a> <\/i>about a primary challenge against Trump. \u201cEven if he crushed me, like in a primary, to be able to stand up and call out the garbage is just a necessary thing, regardless of who it is. &#8230; I think it\u2019d be fun.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Trump has flirted with announcing another run for the White House in 2024 but has not made any formal announcements. <\/p>\n<p>Kinzinger emphasized that he currently has no plans to run for president but is &#8220;not going to rule it out,&#8221; either. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll make a decision when we get there, if there\u2019s a need and a desire. It\u2019s truly not anything I\u2019m planning right now, but I\u2019m not going to rule it out,\u201d he said. \u201cLook, if we\u2019re in a position, if it\u2019s just terrible candidates and the country\u2019s in a worse place? Maybe. But there\u2019s no grand plan right now.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Kinzinger contended he is &#8220;exhausted of the same arguments, the same kind of performative politics,&#8221; particularly in the House. But he is open to vying for political office elsewhere in the future. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know. Maybe I would have run for governor. Maybe I would have run for Senate. Who knows? But yeah, my time in the House is, mercifully, coming to an end,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Since the fallout after the 2020 election, Kinzinger, who <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oneillinois.com\/stories\/2021\/1\/8\/kinzinger-voted-for-with-trump-before-turning\">voted<\/a> for Trump in that contest, has since become one of Trump&#8217;s most vocal Republican foes in the House. He joined the House committee investigating the Capitol riot alongside GOP Rep. Liz Cheney and has regularly berated the former president&#8217;s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>Kinzinger has endured heavy return fire from Trump, who has lambasted him as a &#8220;Republican In Name Only.&#8221; In February, the Republican National Committee <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/republican-national-committee-censures-cheney-and-kinzinger\">voted to censure him<\/a> for his work on the Jan. 6 committee. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know what I identify with anymore,&#8221; he told <i><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/adam-kinzinger-donald-trump-republican-party_n_62589a79e4b0723f80173a6b\">HuffPost<\/a> <\/i>about his political party. &#8220;I&#8217;m just not a Democrat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Rep.
