Meanwhile, the report mentioned \u201cinequality\u201d 147 times and \u201cemissions\u201d nearly 100 times.<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Department <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/12\/inflation-labor-department-joe-biden-white-house-vladimir-putin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> an 8.5% year-over-year increase in the Consumer Price Index, a key inflation indicator, for March, the highest level since December 1981.<\/p>\n<p>Biden opened his economic report with a brief letter praising his economic recovery plan following the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting a stronger workforce as well as the reopening of the national economy. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/11\/economists-forecast-recession-doubled-inflation-federal-reserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>(RELATED: Economists Increasingly Think US Is On The Edge Of A Recession)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7411775\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7411775\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Joe Biden speaks to guests during a visit to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University on April 14, 2022 in Greensboro, North Carolina. (Photo by Allison Joyce\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur nation needed an economic policy that was nimble enough to meet the significant and evolving challenges required to defeat a pandemic and recover from the severe economic disruptions it had caused,\u201d Biden wrote. \u201cRecovery had to be swift and robust; it was not sufficient to return to where we had been, we had to build toward a better future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe success was not preordained,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is the result of well-designed and well-administered policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden did not use the word inflation in the letter but acknowledged the surging <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/06\/federal-reserve-inflation-deutsche-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prices<\/a> felt throughout the country, saying in the letter he would \u201ccontinue to use all the tools available to my Administration to address rising prices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/04\/billionaire-ceo-calls-out-bidens-weak-leadership-ukraine-russia-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biden<\/a> continued by addressing climate change and its economic impact while also calling for energy independence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year alone, extreme weather and climate disasters cost our communities $145 billion and claimed hundreds of lives,\u201d Biden said. \u201cGetting to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, while supporting American communities and workers and expanding new American industries, is a priority of my Administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I think of climate change, I think of jobs,\u201d Biden said in the letter.<\/p>\n<p>Biden added that the war in Ukraine has demonstrated the need for American energy independence by moving away from fossil fuels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoreover, the war in Ukraine reinforces the fact that the United States must attain energy independence, which can happen by eliminating dependence on fossil fuels over the long term,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
