Instagram responded that same day saying that due to \u201chigh volume\u201d it had not been able to view the report but that its \u201ctechnology has found that this account probably doesn\u2019t go against our community guidelines.\u201d The account remained live with more than 33,000 followers.<\/p>\n<p>The accounts are reportedly often used for \u201cbreadcrumbing,\u201d where those seeking child sexual abuse images will post technically legal images to attract other internet predators who then arrange to meet up in private messaging groups to share even more extreme content.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Andy Burrows, the head of online safety policy at the NSPCC, said that the accounts are like a \u201cshop window\u201d for pedophiles. He commented:\u00a0\u201cCompanies should be proactively identifying this content and then removing it themselves. But even when it is reported to them, they are judging that it\u2019s not a threat to children and should remain on the site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Facebook said that it has strict rules against content that sexually exploits or endangers children and that it removes it when made aware of it. A spokesperson commented: \u201cWe\u2019re also focused on preventing harm by banning suspicious profiles, restricting adults from messaging children they\u2019re not connected with and defaulting under-18s to private accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2022\/04\/01\/shock-claim-facebook-moderators-told-to-err-on-the-side-of-on-adult-with-potential-child-sexual-abuse-material\/\">recently reported<\/a> that Facebook\u2019s training documents for the company\u2019s content moderators instruct them to \u201cerr on the side of an adult\u201d when they don\u2019t know the age of an individual shown in a photo or video suspected of being child sexual abuse material (CSAM).<\/p>\n<p>Facebook\u2019s head of safety, Antigone Davis, told the Times that the policy is accurate and attempts to take into account the privacy concerns of those posting sexual imagery of adults.
