Now, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen is leading the charge to reinstate it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe warned you then if your decision was not reversed, Americans would \u2018suffer serious detrimental consequences,\u2019 consumers would pay higher prices, and our allies would become further dependent on Russian and Middle Eastern oil,\u201d the attorneys general write in a letter sent Monday\u00a0obtained by The Daily Wire. \u201cWe hate to say we told you so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s cancellation of the 1,200-mile pipeline <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/keystone-pipeline-dead-killed-by-biden-thousands-of-jobs-lost\">reportedly<\/a> killed thousands of jobs, and Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/energy\/biden-energy-secretary-keystone-xl-pipeline-jobs\">wrote<\/a> to the administration in February demanding to know how many. Knudsen and 20 other Republican attorneys general filed a lawsuit last year against Biden alleging he exceeded his authority by nixing the pipeline, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/21-states-file-lawsuit-against-biden-to-overturn-controversial-canceling-of-keystone-xl-pipeline\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The letter comes amid record-high gas prices and 40-year high inflation that has put a strain on American families. The Producer Price Index, an inflation measurement for wholesale producers, spiked 11.2% annually from March 2021 to March 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/wholesale-inflation-surges-11-2-breaking-another-record\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported. The Consumer Price Index, which tracks consumer inflation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/consumer-prices-soar-8-5-in-march-highest-hike-since-1981\">reached<\/a> its highest level in 41 years only a day before these numbers were released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeing 50 plus percent increases in the price of gasoline,\u201d Knudsen told The Daily Wire in an interview. \u201cI don\u2019t care if you\u2019re in Montana or if you\u2019re in Virginia. Everybody bears that cost and that hurts. Fuel is what drives our economy and we have to be able to drive our vehicles. We have to be able to heat our homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans say European countries are now \u201cunable\u201d to levy sanctions on Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine without risking an economic recession and blast the president for a potentially contradictory decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-wants-more-oil-from-canada-but-not-a-new-pipeline-to-bring-it-11649163668\">now<\/a> import oil from Canada. The letter notes that the pipeline would have provided the same oil.<\/p>\n<p>TC Energy, the company overseeing the pipeline, filed a $15 billion trade claim against Biden last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spglobal.com\/commodityinsights\/en\/market-insights\/latest-news\/oil\/112321-tc-energy-seeks-15-billion-in-keystone-xl-damages-from-us-government\">seeking<\/a> damages from the U.S. government. The formal request for arbitration was submitted under an alleged \u201cbreach\u201d of the legacy North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).<\/p>\n<p>TC Energy did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the legal officers, Biden\u2019s \u201cexcessive regulations\u201d are raising energy costs. They reference a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2021\/01\/25\/2021-01765\/protecting-public-health-and-the-environment-and-restoring-science-to-tackle-the-climate-crisis\">portion<\/a> of Executive Order 13990 that aims to reduce \u201cclimate pollution\u201d and the suspension of rail tank cars being able to transport liquified natural gas.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2021, Biden moved to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-halts-oil-gas-leases-as-oil-prices-skyrocket-at-home\">halt<\/a> oil and gas leases on federal lands. The administration said Friday it would resume leases with the plan of reducing land usage and also charge companies more money for production.<\/p>\n<p>Knudsen said that while \u201cleases are available\u201d to companies it is clear that the administration has \u201cmade the terms so unfavorable\u201d and implemented further regulations that hamper production.<\/p>\n<p>The White House did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour decisions, however, have stripped Americans of the manifold benefits the Keystone XL pipeline would deliver\u2014jobs, tax revenue, and new and sustained economic opportunities,\u201d the attorneys general write in their letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no end in sight to the painfully high energy costs or inflation that Americans are now enduring because of your failed policies,\u201d they also write. \u201cStop the quiet conversations with foreign powers and oligarchs.\u00a0 The solutions are right here at home.\u00a0 On behalf of the citizens of our states, we demand you immediately take the actions outlined above to reverse the damage you have done and provide relief for struggling families and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Knudsen, signers include Steve Marshall of Alabama, Treg R.
