We believe the system has to be fair and balanced, but when we lose sight of the victims of crime, we are not doing what public safety is intended to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/27\/eric-adams-new-york-bill-ritter-gun-violence-crime-surge-fixation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adams<\/a> was referring to earlier comments made by former NYPD commissioner William Bratton, who said progressive policies have caused more fear and crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe scales right now are tipped very heavily in favor of the reforms of the progressive left,\u201d Bratton said Thursday while on the \u201cBloomberg Businessweek\u201d podcast. \u201cWell intended, some needed, but a bit too far, and what we have as a result is this growing fear of crime, this growing actual amount of crime as evidenced in almost every American city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New York City has experienced a 58.7% rise in overall <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/28\/democrat-mayor-calls-city-laughingstock-amid-crime-surge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">crime<\/a> in February compared to the same period in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/site\/nypd\/news\/p00039\/nypd-citywide-crime-statistics-february-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NYPD<\/a> statistics show.
