Darrell Issa talked on Sunday about how <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/something-is-up-jim-jordan-spots-major-shift-in-hunter-biden-story\">GOP lawmakers<\/a> are not waiting for the appointment of a special prosecutor and apparently have a copy of the infamous <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/grassley-and-johnson-revive-arguments-on-biden-family-links-to-china\">laptop<\/a> believed to have belonged to the president&#8217;s son.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the meantime, we\u2019re investigating it. We have the laptop,&#8221; the California Republican said on Fox News&#8217;s <i>Sunday Morning Futures<\/i>, calling it a &#8220;treasure trove&#8221; before going into some of the specific alleged transactions already in the public view and Biden&#8217;s struggles with drug addiction.<\/p>\n<p>Details about Hunter Biden&#8217;s business dealings and personal life have emerged in the media thanks to copies of a laptop and hard drive. The FBI took possession of the actual hardware after the owner, believed to be Biden, left it for repairs in April 2019 and never returned.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s financial affairs, including business dealings tied to countries such as Ukraine, China, and Russia, are under scrutiny in a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-reveals-federal-investigators-are-looking-at-his-taxes\">federal criminal investigation<\/a>. Biden has never publicly denied that the laptop belonged to him but has insisted he is <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-cooperating-completely-with-federal-investigators\">&#8220;100% certain&#8221;<\/a> he will be cleared of wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>As Republicans in the House gear up for a full-force investigation if they take control of the chamber after this year&#8217;s midterm elections, dozens of GOP colleagues are pressuring the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel. They have raised concerns of there being a conflict of interest &#8220;that could prevent a fair and impartial investigation of his activities,\u201d according to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/dozens-of-republicans-call-for-garland-to-appoint-hunter-biden-special-counsel\">a recent letter<\/a> to Attorney General Merrick Garland.<\/p>\n<p>Issa, who is the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/mar\/28\/issa-preps-investigation-big-tech-suppression-hunt\/\">ranking member<\/a> of the Judiciary Committee\u2019s panel on intellectual property and the internet, has already <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/599803-issa-lays-groundwork-for-house-gop-probe-into-hunter-biden-laptop-story\/\">sent out document preservation notices<\/a> in preparation for an investigation into any efforts to suppress news coverage about Biden&#8217;s laptop in the run-up to the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A federal grand jury witness was asked to identify the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-business-partner-says-big-guy-email-about-china-deal-is-genuine-and-refers-to-joe-biden\">infamous &#8220;big guy&#8221;<\/a> mentioned in discussions regarding a Chinese business deal involving Biden, according to a report this month. The question came up after this witness, who was not identified, was shown a piece of evidence before the grand jury, located in Wilmington, Delaware, a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/04\/hunter-biden-grand-jury-witness-was-asked-about-deal-with-chinese-firm-and-the-big-guy\/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&#038;utm_medium=site%20buttons&#038;utm_campaign=site%20buttons\">source told the <\/a><i><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/04\/hunter-biden-grand-jury-witness-was-asked-about-deal-with-chinese-firm-and-the-big-guy\/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&#038;utm_medium=site%20buttons&#038;utm_campaign=site%20buttons\">New York Post<\/a><\/i>. <\/p>\n<p>The answer that was given was not reported, though some have claimed the &#8220;big guy&#8221; is President Joe Biden, raising the prospect that the commander in chief could be drawn into a federal criminal investigation.
