Then after a good night of rest he is back in the field again the next day with operatives from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).<\/p>\n<p>He has been filmed in a dog-sized Ukrainian military vest sniffing out\u00a0unexploded ordnance among the rubble with an officer from the SES.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Watch Patron at work below:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said hundreds of devices had been left behind by Russian forces as they withdrew from northern Ukraine, the <em>Daily Telegraph<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/world-news\/2022\/04\/16\/bullet-de-mining-dog-sniffs-hundreds-russian-explosives-left\/\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile retreating, Russia\u2019s military personnel is setting up booby-traps, banned by the international law, even on food facilities, private housing and human corpses,\u201d it said earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Now dogs like Patron, who has been working since he was six months old, are clearing them out to keep Ukrainians safe from further injuries and deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Mine detection dogs were first used in the Second World War and now it is thought that over 750 are used in humanitarian mining programmes internationally.<\/p>\n<h5><em><span>Follow Simon Kent on Twitter:<\/span> <a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SunSimonKent\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @SunSimonKent<\/a> <span>or e-mail to: skent@breitbart.com<\/span><br \/><\/em><\/h5>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A determined Jack Russell called Patron has been earning his keep by helping Ukrainian forces and sniffing out explosives.
