It\u2019s the Giuliani of apps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jost went on to make a joke a the expense of Britain\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-visit-queen-elizabeth-ii-for-first-time-since-stepping-down-from-royal-roles-report\/\">Prince Harry and Meghan Markle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome on, Elon \u2014\u00a0Elon built electric cars, he\u2019s going to Mars, why is he even involving himself with Twitter?\u201d he asked. \u201cIt would be like if the Prince of England gave it all up just to marry an actor from \u2018Suits.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlus, Twitter isn\u2019t even that profitable anymore. It just feels like a bad business decision. And I say that as someone who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/04\/11\/nyregion\/pete-davidson-colin-jost-staten-island-ferry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bought a Staten Island Ferry<\/a> with Pete [Davidson],\u201d Jost concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Musk made the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/saudi-princes-rejection-of-musk-offer-highlights-twitters-history-of-housing-alleged-saudi-spies\/\">$43 billion offer<\/a> after recently becoming Twitter\u2019s largest individual shareholder and turning down a spot on the board. The board responded with a poison pill, as The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-twitter-board-passes-poison-pill-to-stop-musk-takeover\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>The board has adopted a \u201climited duration shareholder rights plan,\u201d which gives Twitter\u2019s existing shareholders, except Musk, time to purchase additional shares at a discount, Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/twitter-elon-musk-poison-pill-7a62f6d6-b77a-4481-a2e3-5a7081557a84.html\">reported<\/a> Friday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The desired effect is clearly to dilute Musk\u2019s holding in the company, and make the cost of a takeover higher or even prohibitive.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-g5piaz evys1bk0\"><em>\u201cA poison pill, devised by law firms in the 1980s to protect companies from corporate raiders, essentially lets a takeover target flood the market with new shares or allow existing shareholders other than the bidder to buy them at a discount,\u201d The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/04\/15\/business\/dealbook\/twitter-poison-pill-elon-musk.html?smtyp=cur&#038;smid=tw-nytimes\">explained<\/a>. \u201cThat means anyone trying to acquire the company must negotiate directly with the board.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-g5piaz evys1bk0\"><em>The pill will be activated \u201conce any individual or a group of people working together buy 15 percent or more of Twitter\u2019s shares,\u201d the Times noted.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The two also took aim at President Joe Biden during their \u201cWeekend Update\u201d segment, mocking video of the president apparently finishing a speech and turning to shake hands with someone who was not there.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden just finished his speech and shook hands with nobody <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XLndAZcHiD\">pic.twitter.com\/XLndAZcHiD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDailyWire\/status\/1514693033056473088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA video has also gone viral of President Biden finishing a speech in North Carolina, then apparently turning to shake hands with an invisible person,\u201d Jost began, then delivering the punchline: \u201cHey, her name is Kamala.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After some mumbling from the audience, Jost added, \u201cWhen was the last time you saw her?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
