Jassy stated:\u00a0\u201c[At Amazon] if they see something they can do better for customers or for themselves, they can go meet in a room, decide how to change it and change it. That type of empowerment doesn\u2019t happen when you have unions. This week, the Strategic Organizing Center (SOC) released a report showing that Amazon employees suffer injuries at a rate two times higher than other competitors.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In a letter to shareholders, Jassy addressed this stating: \u201cOur injury rates are sometimes misunderstood.\u201d He said that the company has roles that apply to \u201cwarehousing\u201d as well as \u201ccourier and delivery\u201d categories and that the firm\u2019s injury rate is higher than other warehousing firms but lower than delivery companies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I first started in my new role, I spent significant time in our fulfillment centers and with our safety team, and hoped there might be a silver bullet that could change the numbers quickly,\u201d Jassy said. \u201cI didn\u2019t find that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2022\/04\/11\/amazon-claims-new-york-union-organizers-bribed-workers-with-weed-to-gain-votes\/\">recently reported<\/a>\u00a0that Amazon is claiming that New York union organizers provided free marijuana to workers in an effort to convince them to vote in favor of the union. The objection is just one of many made by Amazon on Friday as the company aims to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2022\/04\/08\/sore-losers-amazon-plans-to-appeal-landmark-staten-island-union-win\/\">overturn<\/a>\u00a0a recent vote that created the first union in the history of the tech giant.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2022\/04\/01\/amazon-workers-on-staten-island-vote-to-form-companys-first-union\/\">announced<\/a>\u00a0on April 1 that a majority of workers at the JFK8 warehouse in Staten Island, New York, voted to join the Amazon Labor Union (ALU). Amazon is now challenging the vote and claims that the ALU and NLRB suppressed voter turnout.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon made a filing on Friday in which it questioned the ALU\u2019s methods to win the unionization vote.
