NFTs have been growing in popularity in recent months, with individuals purchasing digital art and real estate in virtual worlds on platforms such as Decentraland and The SandBox.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Meta\u2019s VP of Horizon, Vivek Sharma, said in a statement to\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/4\/11\/23020684\/meta-horizon-worlds-test-creators-sell-virtual-items-monetization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">the Verge<\/a>: \u201cWe think it\u2019s a pretty competitive rate in the market. We believe in the other platforms being able to have their share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, Apple has commented on the situation with company spokesperson Fred Sainz telling Marketwatch that Facebook is being hypocritical by complaining about Apple\u2019s platform fees while charging creators much more. Sainz stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Meta has repeatedly taken aim at Apple for charging developers a 30% commission for in-app purchases in the App Store \u2014 and have used small businesses and creators as a scapegoat at every turn,\u201d Apple spokesman Fred Sainz stated in an email to MarketWatch. \u201cNow \u2014 Meta seeks to charge those same creators significantly more than any other platform. [Meta\u2019s] announcement lays bare Meta\u2019s hypocrisy.
