The celebrity doctor\u2019s\u00a0most recent connection to China was a partnership with \u201cUtah-based Malouf Companies\u00a0that used his name and identity on numerous sleep products that were made in China,\u201d which netted Oz between $1 million and $5 million last year, according to a report by Politico Playbook.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Playbook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/playbook\/2022\/04\/15\/bidens-pollster-2022-is-worst-political-environment-of-my-lifetime-00025485\">wrote<\/a> that the deal was inked in 2020 with the company to make a brand with his name on it for bedding, which used the name \u201cDr. Oz Good Life\u201d and had labels that read \u201cDrOzSleep.com Made in China\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Oz has other business ties to China that haven\u2019t received much attention. Daniel Lippman scoops that according to <a href=\"https:\/\/static.politico.com\/37\/49\/989ab9d74460ac214c3610072fc1\/efd-annual-report-for-2022-oz-mehmet-c.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a new personal financial disclosure<\/a>, Oz made between $1 million and $5 million last year from a deal with Utah-based Malouf Companies that used his name and identity on numerous sleep products that were made in China.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maloufcompanies.com\/news\/dr-oz-announces-new-sleep-brand-dr-oz-good-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed<\/a> a deal with the company for a sleep and bedding brand called \u201cDr. Oz Good Life.\u201d (The labels of one of their <a href=\"https:\/\/static.politico.com\/55\/80\/d355dc2f484a8fa10e817d4f9b64\/thumbnail-mattresstopper.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mattress toppers<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/static.politico.com\/e5\/56\/7fcf86434e8384aea47a184df7cd\/thumbnail-pillow.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pillow<\/a> are clear about their origin: \u201cDrOzSleep.com Made in China.\u201d) A person close to the Oz campaign said that only small portions of the sleep products that couldn\u2019t be manufactured in the U.S. or elsewhere were made in China.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A press release <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maloufcompanies.com\/news\/dr-oz-announces-new-sleep-brand-dr-oz-good-life\/\">announcing<\/a> the brand partnership touted how the celebrity doctor wants to use the brand, which is made in China, \u00a0to bring \u201cscience-based sleep solutions to families across North America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Oz\u2019s campaign was asked to comment on the new revelations about his China ties, spokesperson Brittany Yanick told\u00a0Playbook that \u201cDavid McCormick is Beijing\u2019s favorite candidate, having raised billions in China to support the CCP and celebrated shipping PA jobs overseas.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cDr. Oz knows firsthand the need to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. and reverse China\u2019s stranglehold on global supply chains, all sent abroad thanks to Wall Street insiders like McCormick,\u201d\u00a0Yanick added.<\/p>\n<p>However, this is not the first time Oz, who is trying to run as a China hawk, has been connected to China.\u00a0Oz has been under\u00a0fire in recent months for his long history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/23\/gop-senate-candidate-dr-oz-history-kowtowing-china-comes-fire\/\">kowtowing<\/a> to the\u00a0Chinese Communist Party (CCP). These revelations come after he has tried to distinguish himself from the rest of the Republican primary field by calling on\u00a0President Joe Biden to be \u201ctougher\u201d on\u00a0Beijing while also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/23\/gop-senate-candidate-dr-oz-history-kowtowing-china-comes-fire\/\">accusing<\/a> the CCP of\u00a0currency manipulation and\u00a0stealing American intellectual property.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, it was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/23\/gop-senate-candidate-dr-oz-history-kowtowing-china-comes-fire\/\">exposed<\/a> that the celebrity doctor had a lucrative sponsorship deal with\u00a0American-based Usana Health Sciences\u00a0during and after his\u00a012-year run on <em>The Dr. Oz Show.<\/em>\u00a0In fact, the company, which paid him millions, has noted that\u00a0China is its \u201clargest market and single largest source of revenue.\u201d Usana also has a\u00a0major Chinese subsidiary \u2014\u00a0BabyCare \u2014\u00a0which reportedly acquired licensing\u00a0from the government of China to sell its products in the communist country.<\/p>\n<p>The company also\u00a0published <em>Yin Yang You<\/em>, which Oz co-authored\u00a0with\u00a0Anlong Xu, the president of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, which is backed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Dr. Oz\u2019s book collaboration with the CCP-backed academic showed his drive to make money in the\u00a0communist country and helped push CCP propaganda efforts.<\/p>\n<p><i>Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
