The ex-employee also told the court she never witnessed Heard\u2019s ex, movie star Johnny Depp, abuse the actress, calling him a \u201cgentleman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The video testimony was part of Depp\u2019s $50 million deflation case against Heard, whom Depp claims publicly defamed him via a Washington Post op-ed, subsequently derailing his acting career.<\/p>\n<p>Kate James claimed Heard verbally abused her on the phone and once in person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBetween 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., the barrage would start,\u201d James <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/johnny-depp-defamation-trial-amber-heard-assistant\">said<\/a>, referring to text messages Heard would allegedly frequently send. \u201cThat\u2019s what I would wake up to. All incoherent, not really making sense. Just someone to lash out at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One time, the former assistant said, Heard got in James\u2019 face over a salary dispute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe leapt up out of her chair, put her face approximately 4 inches from my face \u2014 she was spitting in my face, telling me, \u2018How dare you ask me for the salary you\u2019re asking for?\u2019\u201d James recalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe paid me $25 an hour to start off with,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd she finally agreed after screaming abuse at me that she would pay me $50,000 a year once I went to full-time. And this was after me working for well over ten years as a personal assistant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ex-assistant also reportedly claimed Heard was \u201cdramatic\u201d and the actress\u2019 own mother and sister were \u201cterrified\u201d of her.<\/p>\n<p>When it came to Depp, James said she never witnessed any abuse or signs of abuse during her years working for Heard, praising the \u201cPirates of the Caribbean\u201d star as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marca.com\/en\/lifestyle\/celebrities\/2022\/04\/14\/625823b822601db70d8b45fa.html\">gentleman<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A alleged source with knowledge of the defense <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/johnny-depp-defamation-trial-amber-heard-assistant\">told<\/a> Fox News that James is a disgruntled assistant who cannot be trusted.<\/p>\n<p>Before the trial commenced this week, Heard took to Instagram with a message expressing her \u201clove\u201d for Depp and suggesting the explosive op-ed she penned at the Post wasn\u2019t about her ex-husband after all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJohnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in The Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse,\u201d the actress <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CcI_qpVP0ZL\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;ig_rid=69f4525e-faa7-4274-9bdf-69d33e53e3b3\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cI never named him, rather I wrote about the price women pay for speaking out against men in power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI continue to pay that price,\u201d Heard claimed, \u201cbut hopefully when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny.
