When Trafalgar asked Republican primary voters if a \u201cTrump endorsement would make them more or less likely to support that candidate,\u201d 54.9 percent said \u201cmore likely.\u201d Only 25.7 percent said \u201cless likely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rumors abound that Trump is preparing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-election\/trump-plans-jd-vance-endorsement-crowded-ohio-senate-race-rcna24449\">to endorse<\/a> Vance, and those rumors are likely a trial balloon from Team Trump.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Endorsing Vance would be a smart move on Trump\u2019s part. As I\u2019ll explain below, Vance is surging and doing so at the right time. This means that the former president could burnish his image all the more as a kingmaker with a timely nod in Vance\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n<p>As far as Vance\u2019s surge, earlier this month, a Fox News poll showed him languishing in third place with just 11 percent support. In late February, a previous poll from the <em>Hill<\/em>\/Emerson showed him at eight points.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_20667776\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/04\/GettyImages-1239921859.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-20667776\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/GettyImages-1239921859-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>U.S. Senate candidate J.D. So, in this same poll, he\u2019s improved almost nine points. And let\u2019s not forget that Trafalgar blows the imbecile pollsters at Fox News out of the water.<\/p>\n<p>Gibbons\u2019 slide is also notable. Widely seen as the frontrunner, his campaign has been plagued by a couple of serious missteps. Just last week, the millionaire investment banker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/04\/10\/ohio-gop-senate-candidate-mike-gibbons-middle-class-not-really-paying-fair-share-taxes\/\">said<\/a> the middle class is \u201cnot really paying any kind of a fair share\u201d\u00a0of taxes.<\/p>\n<p>In late March, Gibbons (along with Mandel) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/22\/ohio-senate-candidates-gibbons-mandel-support-ukraine-no-fly-zone\/\">also said<\/a> he supports a no-fly zone over Ukraine, which would effectively mean America declaring war against Russia. If we shoot down a Russian plane, which is the only way to enforce a no-fly zone, that\u2019s an outright act of war.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Vance blasted that lunacy in a couple of tweets:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It&#8217;s insane how little Republican politicians have learned from the last 20 years. But no one who claims they&#8217;re &#8220;America First&#8221; should be repeating the same conventional wisdom that has destroyed our country&#8217;s wealth and lost a generation&#8217;s worth of wars.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 J.D. Vance (@JDVance1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JDVance1\/status\/1506095003017232386?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 22, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Raising taxes on the middle class and going to war with Russia are not only two of the worst ideas in the history of worst ideas, but it also reveals a candidate who might not be ready for primetime. As far as the no-fly zone insanity, if a media-manufactured moral panic can manipulate Gibbons (and Mandel) into stating it\u2019s time for America to shoot down Russian planes, how will they stand up to the media onslaught during a general election? Steadiness and competence are what win elections.<\/p>\n<p>As far as Gibbons\u2019 outrageous claim that the middle class is not taxed enough, Democrats must be salivating over that beauty.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">J.D. Almost all of them are narcissistic and shallow. Nevertheless, because it was such a phenomenon, and long before I knew anything about Vance\u2019s politics, I read <em>Hillbilly Elegy<\/em> and found it superb.
