Jim Olsen noted that the legislation is focused on punishing medical professionals who perform abortions and not the women who receive them. <\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe penalties are for the doctor, not for the woman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill specifically <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/OK\/text\/SB612\/2022\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">states<\/a> that it does not \u201cauthorize the charging or conviction of a woman with any criminal offense in the death of her own unborn child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Olsen noted that the legislation would allow doctors to perform abortive procedures should it be necessary to save the life of an expectant mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, I\u2019m thrilled because we have the potential of seeing many lives of babies saved \u2014 part of that depends on future court rulings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
