Vernon Jones is narrowly leading his closest competitor, trucking company owner Mike Collins, in the Republican primary race for U.S. Congress in Georgia\u2019s Tenth District, according to an internal poll obtained by Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>The poll, conducted by Remington Research Group from April 10 to 11, found Jones four points ahead of Collins. Jones received 20 percent support compared to Collins\u2019 16 percent, while a plurality of respondents, 25 percent, said they were undecided.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Former Tenth District Rep. Paul Broun came in third at 15 percent, followed by state Rep. Tim Barr at seven percent and a few others at five percent or lower.<\/p>\n<p>See the full polling document below:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Jones, a former Democrat, emerged as an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump in the leadup to the 2020 election and eventually converted to Republican in 2021. Jones, who has described himself as a \u201cblack Donald Trump,\u201d is endorsed by Trump and heavily promotes the former president\u2019s support as he campaigns in a solid red district.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16287134\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/AP_20307023287883.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16287134\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/AP_20307023287883.jpg\" alt=\"State Rep. (AP Photo\/Brynn Anderson)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Jones was initially running for governor in Georgia but dropped out of that race at Trump\u2019s\u00a0<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/25\/donald-trump-to-headline-rally-in-georgia-with-7-endorsed-primary-candidates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">urging<\/a>\u00a0and earned Trump\u2019s endorsement once he joined the congressional race.<\/p>\n<p>Trump had sought to combine Jones\u2019s support with that of Trump\u2019s endorsed gubernatorial candidate, former Sen. David Perdue, amid Perdue\u2019s campaign against Gov. Brian Kemp, who has been the subject of Trump\u2019s ire over Georgia\u2019s 2020 election process.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also asked how the 703 likely Republican primary voters who were surveyed identified themselves within the party.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Thirty-one percent said they were a \u201cTrump Republican,\u201d 27 percent said they were \u201ctraditional\/establishment,\u201d 17 percent said they were \u201cevangelical,\u201d nine percent said they were \u201clibertarian,\u201d eight percent said they identified as \u201coutsider,\u201d and seven percent said \u201csomething else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones said in a statement to Breitbart News, \u201cWhat this poll shows is clear: the momentum in this race is on our side. The people of the 10th Congressional District want a Congressman who has earned the trust of President Trump, isn\u2019t afraid to fight against the Radical Left, and won\u2019t back down to the GOP Establishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that \u201cdespite every attack from the Fake News media and RINO Republicans, our campaign continues to connect with more and more Georgians every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Collins, the second-place candidate in the poll, has not appeared deterred by the Trump factor as the May 24 race nears.
