This administration knows that its policies are endangering public safety and national security, so they\u2019ve decided to engage in a cover-up,\u201d former ICE Chief of Staff Jon Feere told the Daily Caller News Foundation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Republican members of Congress are asking Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for key immigration enforcement data they argue the Biden administration is hiding from the public, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, sent Thursday, is led by Republican Texas Rep. Chip <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/06\/chip-roy-democrats-title42-border-covid-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roy<\/a> and co-signed by 19 other Republican lawmakers who argued that delayed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fiscal year 2021 Enforcement and Removal statistics that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/11\/ice-deportations-joe-biden-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">showed<\/a> significant decreases in arrests only provided a \u201climited\u201d look into the agency\u2019s enforcement and removals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he report has shown to be wholly inadequate for the purpose of comparing annual data to prior years. More precisely, the report ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] recently published does not include the many data tables and specific enforcement statistics that were provided by the past Administration in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Fiscal Year 2020 Enforcement and Removal Operations Report,\u201d the lawmakers wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The report excludes specific data that ICE put in previous reports, including the average daily population by arresting agency and Enforcement and Removal Operations administrative arrests by criminality. The low number of deportations, on top of the lack of certain data, happened as border crossings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/10\/22\/us\/politics\/border-crossings-immigration-record-high.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reached<\/a> record highs.<\/p>\n<p>Congress must obtain this enforcement data the administration is hiding, director of investigations at the Center for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/07\/southern-border-cubans-nicaragua-border-patrol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Immigration<\/a> Studies and former chief of staff at ICE during the Trump administration Jon Feere told the Daily Caller News Foundation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/14\/border-texas-abbott-title-42-republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: BORDER FIASCO: Conservatives Hammer Texas Gov Abbott\u2019s Handling Of The Border)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cICE has proudly published this report before the end of each year for at least the last decade, with the exception of last year. This administration knows that its policies are endangering public safety and national security, so they\u2019ve decided to engage in a cover-up,\u201d Feere said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut from the data we have seen it\u2019s undeniable that thousands of criminal aliens are running free in our communities specifically because of this administration\u2019s policy choices. DHS is being run by people who oppose the department\u2019s mission and don\u2019t care who is injured from the fallout of their anti-law enforcement agenda,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal year 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/28\/aclu-immigration-and-customs-enforcement-american-civil-liberties-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ICE<\/a>\u2018s Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/doclib\/eoy\/iceAnnualReportFY2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deported<\/a>\u00a059,011 noncitizens, compared to 185,884 noncitizens\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/news\/releases\/fy-2020-ice-annual-report-highlights-operational-successes-year-shrouded-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deported<\/a> in fiscal year 2020. ERO also arrested 74,082 noncitizens in fiscal year 2021, compared to 103,603 people in fiscal year 2020, which was a 28% decrease from the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead, the recently released annual report is likened to a narrative driven summary of the agency\u2019s many focuses and missions in FY21, and does not include more granular data that allows for a more precise analysis of ICE\u2019s immigration enforcement activities in FY21,\u201d the Republican lawmakers wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour department has shown to be unfazed by this reality and the lack of transparency from DHS during your time as Secretary has not gone unnoticed,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BORDER CRISIS: I asked Minority Leader McCarthy and members of the House Republican Conference what their plan to address the border crisis from an enforcement and removal perspective is if and when they win back the majority.
