One video was allegedly filmed in Texas while the other was purportedly filmed in California. \u201cWTF\u201d reads text included in the video.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA rocket part crashed on the moon, as predicted, at around 7:25 a.m. EST on March 4, 2022,\u201d reads part of the Facebook post. \u201cIt smashed into the far side of the moon \u2014 where lunar orbiters were not able to observe the event \u2014 in the Hertzsprung crater, which is 350 miles wide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The caption appears to be referring to a real incident that took place in which a rocket booster collided with the moon March 4, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/science\/a-dead-rocket-crashed-into-the-moon-and-scientists-are-excited\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNET<\/a>. As the post notes, the impact occurred on the far side of the moon and was not visible by spacecraft.<\/p>\n<p>The videos are digital creations, however, and are unrelated to the recent collision. A reverse image search found the Facebook video first appeared on the TikTok account <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/streetcreditmedia\/videos\/741629757213965\/\">wtfvidtok<\/a>\u00a0April 5. Unlike the Facebook video, this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@wtfvidtok\/video\/7083206215903268139?is_copy_url=1&#038;is_from_webapp=v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TikTok video<\/a> uses the VFX hashtag, signifying the video features special effects. <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/07\/30\/fact-check-multiple-tornadoes-simultaneously-kansas\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Viral Image Claims To Show Multiple Tornadoes Simultaneously Ripping Through Kansas)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, the video is VFX as I mentioned in the caption,\u201d wtfvidtok told Check Your Fact in an email. \u201cThe original creator of the videos is Greg Pietrantonio\u2026Greg created the videos, and I put them together and added some text to add more perspective to his creation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pietrantonio confirmed in an email to Check Your Fact that he created the videos for fun. \u201cThey were filmed in Pennsylvania and Florida not Texas and California for the record!\u201d said Pietrantonio. \u201cBoth were created using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/aftereffects\/campaign\/pricing.html?sdid=KKQOW&#038;kw=semgeneric&#038;mv=search&#038;ef_id=Cj0KCQjwjN-SBhCkARIsACsrBz5Nmf2iWTUbt9ov8bPQjaS3UWticGpG00Jgj3GgPc8Csv8sdYczPzsaAraeEALw_wcB:G:s&#038;s_kwcid=AL!3085!3!384483773476!e!!g!!adobe%20after%20effects!1712851902!78450202215&#038;gclid=Cj0KCQjwjN-SBhCkARIsACsrBz5Nmf2iWTUbt9ov8bPQjaS3UWticGpG00Jgj3GgPc8Csv8sdYczPzsaAraeEALw_wcB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adobe After Effects<\/a> and are not rockets hitting the moon.\u201d He shared both videos on his TikTok account, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@gmoney1289?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@gmoney1289<\/a>, prior to 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video\u00a0shared on Facebook allegedly shows two views of a rocket crashing into the moon.Verdict: FalseBoth videos were created with the use of special effects.
