Is there a plan B?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@elonmusk<\/a>: &#8220;There is.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ax2Kcb8GEi\">pic.twitter.com\/ax2Kcb8GEi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TPostMillennial\/status\/1514666932074692615?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s very important for there to be an inclusive arena for free speech,\u201d Musk said during the event. \u201cTwitter has become kind of the de facto town square, so it\u2019s really important that people have both the reality and perception that they\u2019re able to speak freely within the bounds of the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk said that Twitter needed to make its algorithm open sourced and that any action the company takes against tweets need to be thoroughly explained to the public to stop \u201cbehind the scenes manipulation\u201d on the platform by the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to the function of democracy, it\u2019s important to the function of the United States as a free country and many other countries, and to help freedom in the world more broadly than in the U.S.,\u201d Musk said. \u201cCivilizational risk is decreased the more we can increase the trust of Twitter as a public platform, and so I do think this will be somewhat painful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy strong intuitive sense is that having a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important to the future of civilization,\u201d Musk said. \u201cI don\u2019t care about the economics at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Musk, Twitter\u2019s secret algorithms, which he said promote some tweets while not promoting others, can be \u201cquite dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk said when it comes to judging whether tweets should be taken down due to the nature of the content in the tweet, the policy should be: if in doubt, let the tweet exist.<\/p>\n<p>Musk added that a good sign as to whether or not free speech exists is if someone is allowed to say something that you do not like.<\/p>\n<p>On the issue of world\u2019s richest man owning Twitter, Musk pointed to Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s ownership of Facebook and Instagram.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
