Chris Rock\u2019s my good friend, like one of my best friends, and Quest Love is also one of my best friends. \u2026 So to see that happen, to see your friend get hit \u2014 and also Will Smith, who I\u2019ve loved, we\u2019ve all loved forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd, you know, I haven\u2019t been around much violence,\u201d she added. \u201cI didn\u2019t grow up with it in the home or anything. So, it was upsetting for so many reasons. \u2026 It was shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stern said he was shocked to see Smith still sitting there in the audience after having \u201cassaulted Chris Rock,\u201d and wondered why he was still in the building. He said it was clear to him what needed to be done, and it was that the \u201cMen in Black\u201d star \u201cshould have been hauled out\u201d of there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just thought, \u2018Oh my God, Will Smith,\u2019\u201d Schumer explained. \u201cI was in an abusive relationship years ago. \u2026 I thought right away, \u2018Oh my God, Will Smith must be in so much pain.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt bad for him too,\u201d she added, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/culture\/tv-film\/amy-schumer-talks-will-smith-oscars-slap-chris-rock-howard-stern-1235058871\/\">reported<\/a> Billboard.com. \u201cThat\u2019s probably not the right instinct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amy-schumer-is-still-triggered-and-traumatized-by-oscars-drama-from-days-ago-waiting-for-this-sickening-feeling-to-go-away\">reported<\/a> previously by The Daily Wire, the \u201cLife &#038; Beth\u201d star shared days after the Oscars that she was still \u201ctriggered and traumatized\u201d after Smith slapped Rock:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>She wrote: \u201cI think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and see me on tour this fall. But for real. Still triggered and traumatized. I love my friend @chrisrock and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend @questlove and the whole thing was so disturbing. So much pain in @willsmith anyway I\u2019m still in shock and stunned and sad. Im proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/heartbroken-will-smith-announces-hes-resigned-from-the-academy\">Smith<\/a> has since apologized to Rock and resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences following \u201cdisciplinary proceedings\u201d by the Oscars over his actions.
