The British actress was nominated for two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of the girl with telekinetic and telepathic powers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Now the 18-year-old star is speaking up about alleged sexualization she experienced during her career when she was younger. Brown discussed the sexualization of children in Hollywood during an appearance on \u201cThe Guilty Feminist\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/guiltyfeminist.com\/episode\/?episode=376\"><span>podcast<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI deal with the same things any 18-year-old is dealing with, navigating being an adult and having relationships and friendships, and it\u2019s all of those things,\u201d Brown said. \u201cBeing liked and trying to fit in, it\u2019s all a lot, and you\u2019re trying to find yourself while doing that. The only difference is that obviously, I\u2019m doing that in the public eye.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The \u201cStranger Things\u201d star mentioned how she\u2019s noticed \u201cdefinitely been dealing with [being sexualized] more within the last two weeks of turning 18 \u2014 definitely seeing a difference between the way people act and the way that the press and social media have reacted to me coming of age.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI believe that shouldn\u2019t change anything, but it\u2019s gross and it\u2019s true. It\u2019s just a very good representation of what\u2019s going on in the world and how young girls are sexualized,\u201d Brown said. \u201cSo, I have been dealing with that, but I have also been dealing with that for forever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She went on to elaborate on incidents from the past after becoming an overnight sensation thanks to the success of \u201cStranger Things.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As one example, Brown said she was \u201ccrucified\u201d for wearing a low-cut dress when she was only 16. \u201cI thought, \u2018My, is this really what we\u2019re talking about? We should be talking about the incredible people that were there at the award show,&#8217;\u201d she recalled of the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/celebrities\/2022\/04\/12\/millie-bobby-brown-criticizes-press-hollywood-sexualization-young-age\/7297647001\/\"><span>USA Today<\/span><\/a><span>, the \u201cStranger Things\u201d star mentioned how she was included in W magazine\u2019s list of \u201cWhy TV Is Sexier Than Ever\u201d at the age of 13. She discussed how people online have been commenting on her looks for years, including much older men. Then there was the 2016 GQ profile describing her as a \u201cvery grown-up child\u201d and discussing how her legs looked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Brown addressed this all previously in an Instagram post when she was 16.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe last few years haven\u2019t been easy, I\u2019ll admit that,\u201d the teen wrote. \u201cThere are moments I get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Brown will return to her role playing Eleven in \u201cStranger Things 4,\u201d which is scheduled to launch May 27 on Netflix.
