Greg Abbott (R) claimed victory Wednesday after the governor of Mexico\u2019s Nuevo Leon province promised to curb illegal migration in exchange for Abbott ending stringent safety checks on the trucks used to export goods from the province\u2019s factories and farms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is a historic day where two governors are showing how to lead on border issues,\u201d Abbot told a press conference where he denounced President Joe Biden\u2019s easy migration rules and his plan to remove the Title 42 legal barrier on May 23.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Abbott said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Governor [Samuel] Garcia [Sepulveda] and I reached an agreement today \u2026 Governor Garcia has begun and will continue enhancing border security enforcement measures on the Nuevo Leon side of the border, both at ports of entry and alongside the Rio Grande River, to prevent illegal immigration \u2026\u00a0 The Texas Department of Public Safety can return to its previous practice [and] The effect of this will be that the bridge from Nuevo Leone and Texas will return to normal, effective immediately. Right now. It will remain that way as long as the Nuevo Leon executes this historic agreement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The deal reopens just one of several border crossings that have been clogged by the governor\u2019s policy of stringent safety checks. Abbot says he has begun negotiations with other Mexican governors:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I look forward to working with all of them toward achieving results similar to what we are achieving today with Governor Garcia. Until, however, those agreements are reached with those states, the Texas Department of Public Safety will continue to thoroughly inspect vehicles entering into the United States from every Mexican state except Nuevo Leon.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <em>El Paso Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/2022\/04\/12\/texas-mexico-border-el-paso-zaragoza-commercial-truck-traffic-inspections\/7290919001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> after the Nuevo Leon bridges were reopened::<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">[Mexican] truckers continued to wait hours to cross at\u00a0the Ysleta and\u00a0the Bridge of the Americas ports of entry in El Paso.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Truckers said they usually spend two or three hours crossing into El Paso from Ju\u00e1rez. After Gov. Greg Abbott announced new<a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/2022\/04\/12\/governor-greg-abbott-order-stalls-commercial-traffic-texas-mexico-border-international-trade\/7282949001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0<\/a>Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)<a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/2022\/04\/12\/governor-greg-abbott-order-stalls-commercial-traffic-texas-mexico-border-international-trade\/7282949001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0trooper inspections<\/a>\u00a0at ports of entry, truckers\u00a0this week suddenly found themselves in 10-plus hour lines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">[\u2026]\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Even after the blockades lifted, inspections\u00a0continued to\u00a0stymie\u00a0commercial truck traffic in much of the borderland, with no end in sight. Trucks waited in line for their turn at\u00a0two inspection bays at the\u00a0DPS station exiting the Bridge of the Americas. With inspections lasting 20 minutes or more, the line advanced at a crawl.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are seeing delays that will be felt across the country,\u201d John Esparza, president of the Texas Trucking Association, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2022\/04\/13\/texas-truck-abbott-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> the <em>Washington Post<\/em>. \u201cThere\u2019s the refrigerated segment of trucking, there\u2019s household goods, forestry, fuel tankers, commodities for trade goods \u2014 this is about General Motors, Ford and everything coming out of Mexico, our trade partner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abbott\u2019s Democratic rival in the pending election, Beto O\u2019Rourke, accused the governor of \u201ckilling businesses\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is inflation. Higher prices at the grocery store. A supply chain crisis that is killing businesses along the border. <\/p>\n<p>This is what Greg Abbott is doing to Texas. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tvYvAZfAZd\">pic.twitter.com\/tvYvAZfAZd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Beto O&#8217;Rourke (@BetoORourke) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BetoORourke\/status\/1513888020537163787?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 12, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden\u2019s pro-migration border agency also complained, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/national-media-release\/fact-sheet-commercial-traffic-delays-along-texas-border-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Laredo Field Office has seen a significant increase in commercial wait times at ports of entry since April 8, 2022, when inspections by Texas DPS began. Hildalgo\/Pharr which averages a 63 minute wait time, reached a peak wait of 320 minutes and experienced a 35% drop in commercial traffic. (Michael Gonzalez\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll also know well the frustration of my fellow Texans \u2014 and my fellow Americans \u2014 caused by the Biden administration, not securing our borders,\u201d Abbott responded, adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The ultimate way to end the clog at the border is for President Biden to do his job and to secure the border. If you want relief from the clogged border, you need to call President Biden and tell him to maintain the Title 42 expulsion policy that has been in place for years.<\/p>\n<p>You need to tell President Biden to aggressively enforce the Remain in Mexico policy. You need to call your member of Congress and insist that they hold the Biden administration accountable. And you need to demand that President Biden enforce the immigration laws that have already been passed by the United States Congress.<\/p>\n<p>You also need to contact President Lopez Obrador and urge him to collaborate with Texas to end the influx of cartel activity from Mexico into Texas.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cClogged bridges can end only through the type of collaboration that we are demonstrating today. Between Texas and Nuevo Leon,\u201d Abbott said, adding, \u201cUntil then, Texas will use its own strategies to secure the border and continue to negotiate with Mexico to seek solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pro-migration groups \u2014 including David Bier at the open-borders Cato Institute \u2014 complained about Texas\u2019s efforts to curb the federal policy of extracting migrants from poor countries:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden just allowed himself to be replaced as president <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zDvrBvbzmp\">https:\/\/t.co\/zDvrBvbzmp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Bier (@David_J_Bier) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/David_J_Bier\/status\/1514404249597321220?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cAn explicitly illegal purpose. What is going on?\u201d Bier tweeted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Since at least 1990, the D.C. establishment has used a wide variety of excuses and explanations \u2014 for example, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/nation-of-immigrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nation of Immigrants<\/a>\u201d \u2014 to justify its policy of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/extraction-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extracting<\/a>\u00a0tens of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2022\/02\/23\/report-u-s-immigrant-population-hits-record-46-6-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">millions<\/a>\u00a0of migrants and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/24\/bidens-border-agency-worries-about-tinder-swindler-amid-migration-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visa workers<\/a>\u00a0from poor countries to serve as workers, consumers, and renters for various U.S. investors and CEOs.<\/p>\n<p>The self-serving\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/12\/20\/washington-post-low-wage-employers-struggle-after-cheap-labor-bubble\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">economic<\/a>\u00a0strategy of extraction migration has\u00a0no\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/20\/gop-donors-economist-immigration-can-offset-foreign-trade-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stopping<\/a>\u00a0point.
