The bill now goes to the state Senate. If passed, the bill will go to Gov. Tom Wolf&#8217;s (D) desk. Fox noted that Wolf has pledged to veto a similar bill in consideration of the State Senate, Senate Bill 1191.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.state.pa.us\/cfdocs\/billinfo\/billinfo.cfm?syear=2021&#038;sind=0&#038;body=H&#038;type=B&#038;bn=972\">HB 972<\/a>, called the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.state.pa.us\/CFDOCS\/Legis\/PN\/Public\/btCheck.cfm?txtType=PDF&#038;sessYr=2021&#038;sessInd=0&#038;billBody=H&#038;billTyp=B&#038;billNbr=0972&#038;pn=2886\">Fairness in Women\u2019s Sports Act<\/a>,&#8221; explicitly states that &#8220;athletic teams or sports designated for females, women or girls under subsection (a) (2) may not be open to students of the male sex.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Interscholastic, intercollegiate, intramural or club athletic teams or sports that are sponsored by a public school entity, a public institution of higher education or any school or institution where students or teams compete against a public school entity or public institution of higher education must be expressly designated as one of the following based on sex: (1) male, men or boys. (2) Female, women or girls. (3) Coed or mixed,&#8221; the measure reads.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Wolf said in a tweet on Tuesday that the &#8220;transphobic&#8221; legislation &#8220;won&#8217;t get past [his] desk.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">As states across the country push transphobic legislation, some Republicans in the General Assembly are wasting time attempting the same in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>It won&#8217;t get past my desk.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s enhance protections for LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians instead. Since then, several GOP governors have drafted legislation to protect women&#8217;s sports, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/03\/31\/another-gop-governor-signs-law-protecting-girls-sports-n2605339\">Oklahoma<\/a> Gov. Kevin Stitt, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/03\/03\/gop-governor-signs-bill-banning-biological-males-from-womens-sports-n2604099\">Iowa<\/a> Gov. Kim Reynolds and <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/03\/31\/arizona-gov-ducey-signs-bills-limiting-abortion-and-protecting-womens-sports-n2605312\">Arizona<\/a> Gov. Doug Ducey.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last month, two Republican governors vetoed bills protecting girls&#8217; sports, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/03\/23\/utah-gov-vetoes-trans-athlete-bill-n2604910\">Utah Gov. Spencer Cox<\/a> and Indiana <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/03\/22\/gop-indiana-governor-vetoes-bill-banning-biological-males-from-womens-sports-n2604856\">Gov. Eric Holcomb.<\/a> Democratic Kentucky <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2022\/04\/07\/kentucky-governor-vetoes-transgender-athlete-ban-n2605604\">Gov. Andy Beshear<\/a> did the same.
