One month later, Biden offered a presentation to Chinese investors discussing various American shale formations that would be profitable investment opportunities. Biden was receiving payments from CEFC China Energy at the time of the presentation, obtained by the Daily Caller from his laptop, although the presentation does not specify which firm received it.<\/p>\n<p>Biden named the presentation \u201cNatural Gas [CH]_Mervyn Slides_v9_12.12.17,\u201d suggesting a connection to Mervyn Yan, a CEFC official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-china-laptop\/\">named<\/a> in a Washington Post report. Yan reportedly helped wire money to Hunter and James Biden, President Joe Biden\u2019s brother who also participated in the business venture.<\/p>\n<p>In the presentation, Biden flagged several major energy fields for potential investment, including Texas\u2019 Permian Basin field, Arkansas\u2019 Fayetteville field and West Virginia\u2019s Marcellus Shale formation. Hudson West III, whose letterhead is included throughout the slide show presentation, wired nearly $4.8 million to Hunter Biden\u2019s law firm through September 2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/23\/hunter-biden-senate-report-ukraine-china-burisma\/\">according<\/a> to a joint report issued by the Senate Homeland Security Committee and Senate Finance Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden believed that using the shell company would allow him to avoid registering under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, he <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/10\/24\/hunter-biden-bobulinski-fara-china\/\">wrote<\/a> in a 2017 text message to business partner Tony Bobulinski. The Delaware-registered Hudson West III would also allow Biden and his business partners to bid on federal and state-funded projects, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter also told Bobulinski that Joe Biden\u2019s brother James had \u201cvery particular opinions\u201d on foreign registration. James Biden is also the focus of a Republican-led investigation, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/hunter-biden-republican-probe-business-dealings-james-biden-chuck-grassley\/\">told<\/a> CBS News on April 6.<\/p>\n<p>Bobulinski has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/10\/22\/tony-bobulinski-hunter-biden-joe-biden-china-business-dealings\/\">alleged<\/a> that Joe Biden \u201cwas plainly familiar, at least at a high level\u201d with \u201cthe Biden family\u2019s plans with the Chinese.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Hunter\u2019s attempts to conduct business with Chinese energy companies in the aftermath of an official Trump administration state <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/11\/08\/peoples-republic-of-china-grants-trump-an-honor-no-foreign-leader-has-had-since-its-founding\/\">visit<\/a> to China, his father has cracked down on U.S. natural gas production in his time in the White House. President Joe Biden issued a natural gas lease <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/22\/joe-biden-suspends-oil-gas-lease-permits-sixty-days-climate-change\/\">moratorium<\/a> on federal lands in his first week in office. Here Are The Facts)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s budget, released in late March, implied that the federal government will not hold federal oil or natural gas lease sales for at least another 18 months. The Department of the Interior <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/30\/joe-biden-budget-interior-department-offshore-oil-gas\/\">projected<\/a> that profits from lease sales would drop from $395.5 million in fiscal year 2022 to $25 million in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The authenticity of Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop was first <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/10\/29\/cybersecurity-expert-authenticates-hunter-biden-burisma-email\/\">confirmed<\/a> by the Daily Caller News Foundation in October 2020, even as outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post suggested that it was Russian disinformation. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-china-laptop\/\">newspapers<\/a> recently published stories related to Hunter Biden\u2019s ongoing legal troubles in which they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/16\/us\/politics\/hunter-biden-tax-bill-investigation.html\">admitted<\/a> the the laptop and its contents are authentic.<\/p>\n<p>Grassley and fellow Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin reportedly received copies of the laptop from Jack Maxey, a former co-host of Steve Bannon\u2019s War Room podcast, Maxey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10689445\/Whistleblower-handed-Hunter-Bidens-laptop-congressmen-fled-Switzerland.html\">told<\/a> the Daily Mail. The two senators have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?519295-17\/senators-grassley-johnson-hunter-biden&#038;event=519295&#038;playEvent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">highlighted<\/a> various documents in floor speeches, noting Hunter and James Biden\u2019s business dealings with CEFC, as well as Hunter Biden\u2019s time on the board of the Burisma Energy company.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Florida Rep.
