But we live in a pluralistic society, and the way we go forward and the way we come together as a country united, I believe, is when we respect your right to believe, and my right to believe, what we believe,\u201d Pence replied.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin responded first, saying that she had seen that comment and felt it was an indication that Pence\u2019s views on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/iowa-state-professors-syllabus-corrected-after-it-threatened-to-boot-students-who-criticize-abortion-gay-marriage-blm\/\">same-sex marriage<\/a> might be evolving.<\/p>\n<p>Guest co-host Julia Haart spoke of her own daughter, who is dating another woman, and the fact that her religious community would not have allowed that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, having the right to choose who you want to be, and not made to feel shame is what democracy is,\u201d Haart said. \u201cWho decided that a traditional marriage is a man and a woman? Who came up with this plan? Everything that exists in nature \u2014 right? People say it\u2019s unnatural. Isn\u2019t everything that exists in nature natural?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs homosexuality even mentioned in the Bible? I don\u2019t think it is,\u201d Behar interjected then, and the others at the table quickly corrected her: \u201cIt is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I appreciate what you\u2019re saying about about your former boss, Mike Pence. I think he\u2019s lying on that tape,\u201d Co-host Sunny Hostin pushed back. \u201cAnd I think that, you know, words are meaningless when your actions say differently. Right? And let\u2019s just take a look very briefly at Mike Pence\u2019s record with the LGBTQ+ community\u2026 he said during his congressional campaign that Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2004, Mike Pence co-sponsored a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would define marriage as solely between one man and one woman. In 2007, he voted against the Employment Nondiscrimination Act. In 2010, he voted against the Don\u2019t Ask, Don\u2019t Tell repeal. In 2015, he signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act \u2026\u201d Hostin continued, but Behar interrupted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlright, we got it \u2026\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the real Mike Pence. So I don\u2019t care what he\u2019s saying because he wants to run for president.
