Mark Zuckerberg and the Masters of the Universe stand to make a fortune if trading NFTs takes off in what he touts as the future of the internet.<\/p>\n<p>CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/04\/13\/meta-plans-to-take-a-nearly-50percent-cut-on-nft-sales-in-its-metaverse.html\">reports<\/a> that Facebook (now known as Meta) plans to tax sales on its virtual reality platform Horizon Worlds by up to 47.5 percent. Facebook announced in a recent blog post that it is allowing a small number of Horizon Worlds creators to sell virtual assets within the worlds they develop. However, what Facebook failed to mention is how much of every sale creators will be forced to give up.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_18507186\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/facebook-meta-name-change-mark-zuckerberg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18507186\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/facebook-meta-name-change-mark-zuckerberg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mark Zuckerberg introduces Meta (Facebook)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Facebook spokesperson told CNBC that the company will take an overall cut of as much as 47.5 percent on each transaction, which includes a \u201chardware platform fee\u201d of 30 percent for sales made via the Meta Quest store and a Horizon Worlds fee of 17.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Many users are understandably angered by the move, especially those in the NFT space who were excited at the idea of selling digital NFTs in the metaverse. NFTs have been growing in popularity in recent months, with individuals purchasing digital art and real estate in virtual worlds on platforms such as Decentraland and The SandBox.<\/p>\n<p>Meta\u2019s VP of Horizon, Vivek Sharma, said in a statement to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/4\/11\/23020684\/meta-horizon-worlds-test-creators-sell-virtual-items-monetization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Verge<\/a>: \u201cWe think it\u2019s a pretty competitive rate in the market.
