Mayor Muriel Bowser? That\u2019s the question twenty-three members of Congress are asking as the heat rises on an investigation into the deaths of five babies. <\/p>\n<p>Their bodies were turned over to the city by pro-life activists with the hope that autopsies and an investigation into possible criminal activity be performed. Unsurprisingly, given the politics of the pro-abortion left, no one can be found to answer serious questions about the abortions and possible acts of infanticide that led to their being placed in buckets and treated as waste products. <\/p>\n<h2>Serious Questions Need Answers<\/h2>\n<p>On Tuesday,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Final-Letter-to-Bowser-and-Contee-4.5.22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a letter was sent to Mayor Bowser<\/a>\u00a0from both the House of Representatives and the Senate demanding a full investigation into the recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/infant-bodies-infanticide-attempted-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deaths of the five children<\/a>, all committed at a local abortion facility, Washington Surgi-Clinic. Although abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy in D.C.,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/expert-analysis-dc-babies-partial-birth-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">medical experts<\/a>\u00a0who reviewed photos of the children believe that federal crimes may have been committed in violation of the\u00a0Partial-Birth<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/108\/plaws\/publ105\/PLAW-108publ105.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0Abortion Act<\/a>\u00a0as well as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/107th-congress\/house-bill\/2175\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Born Alive Infants Protection Act<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yet, Mayor Bowser \u2014 who leads all of the District bureaucracy including the D.C. Medical Examiner\u2019s Office \u2014 indicated to the media that they\u2019ve chosen\u00a0not to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/religion\/2022\/04\/01\/lauren-handy-dc-abortion-fetuses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0conduct autopsies<\/a>\u00a0or further investigate the circumstances of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/infant-bodies-may-indicate-infanticide-after-attempted-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deaths.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why is Mayor Bowser letting the abortion industry run our nation\u2019s capital? Why is she ignoring members of Congress who are demanding an investigation into the circumstances of this potential murder case? It\u2019s far past time for justice to prevail.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/infant-bodies-infanticide-attempted-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Live Action News<\/a>\u00a0initially\u00a0reported the story by releasing disturbing photos of the five children, most of whom, according to medical experts, were viable infants able to live independently outside the womb. Of the two federal crimes potentially committed, one baby girl,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/five-babies-killed-dc-abortionist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">now named Harriet<\/a>, approximately 28-30 weeks old, was the victim of what appears to be a partial-birth abortion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Former abortionist Dr. Kathi Aultman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/expert-analysis-dc-babies-partial-birth-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said in a statement<\/a>\u00a0to Live Action News, \u201c[Harriet] appears intact and completely normal except for trauma to the neck. There appears to be an incision at the base of the skull, and the head has been decompressed. If the baby was alive at the start of this procedure, it would be considered a partial-birth abortion and would be illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why would the mayor avoid investigating this further? Maybe it\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodaction.org\/planned-parenthood-advocates-dc-maryland-nova\/press-room\/dc-statehood-essential-for-abortion-access-voting-rights-and-racial-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">her ties to Planned Parenthood<\/a>.\u00a0Or perhaps it\u2019s because she thinks \u201censur[ing] abortion access \u2026 for the people of D.C. is essential.\u201d\u00a0 Well, Ms. Mayor, how essential is it to protect your citizens from murder?\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words<\/h2>\n<p>These <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/infant-bodies-infanticide-attempted-abortions\/\">photos<\/a> tell a tragic story. These babies and the citizens of D.C. deserve better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Aultman, one of the boys, who has been named Christopher by pro-life activists,\u00a0 \u201cshould have been in a nursery.\u201d He is estimated by some medical experts to be nearly full-term, and Aultman claims: \u201cHe appears to be completely normal and was probably aborted using the induction method, which uses medication to induce labor. He looks about the same size as my granddaughter when she was born.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s \u201cBaby Phoenix.\u201d While the gender is unknown, the baby can be seen inside of his or her intact amniotic sac which raises questions about how the abortionist may have ended his or her life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn induction method would have been used for the abortion,\u201d said Dr. Aultman. \u201cUnless this baby was injected with a drug designed to kill prior to the abortion, he or she may very well have been born alive and then left to die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We must know what happened and if these abortions were committed illegally.\u00a0And whether or not these gruesome killings were legal, we cannot look away from the humanity of these babies.\u00a0Live Action, among other organizations, members of Congress, and private citizens are\u00a0<em>imploring<\/em>\u00a0Mayor Bowser to order an autopsy for each of these five beautiful children \u2013 who all deserved a chance at life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All citizens of good conscience should also demand a full and thorough investigation into the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/inhuman-late-term-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Surgi-Clinic and Dr. Cesare Santangelo<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 who has a questionable medical practice with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/dc-abortionist-google-review-baby\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tragic reviews<\/a>, leaving women scarred both physically and emotionally.\u00a0Days ago, someone claiming to be a patient who says she allegedly received an abortion at the clinic, left a Google review questioning whether her baby may have been born alive at 27 weeks after an abortion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time for Mayor Bowser to put politics aside and perform her basic legal and moral duties.
