The department is evaluating offers from at least eight other countries that are willing to do the same,\u201d The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/state-department-coronavirus-vaccine-diplomats\/2021\/02\/17\/ec507e84-70d5-11eb-a4eb-44012a612cf9_story.html\">reported<\/a>. \u201cIn Russia, some State Department personnel appealed to Moscow for doses of its Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine after Washington could not promise the delivery of U.S.-made vaccine doses in the near future, officials said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s vaccine has not been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the State Department is not recommending that Americans stationed overseas take Russia\u2019s vaccine, however, it is allowing those Americans to make their own health decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Trump administration, the National Security Agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/16\/us\/politics\/vaccine-hacking-russia.html\">warned<\/a> that Russian hackers were attempting to steal coronavirus vaccine research from universities, companies, and health organizations in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing for the world\u2019s richest country to require the charity of other nations when it comes to vaccines,\u201d one U.S. official in the Middle East told the newspaper, \u201cespecially when you consider that the best vaccines were made in the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another senior U.S. official told the Post that the Biden administration had \u201cno real plan\u201d for vaccinating U.S. diplomats stationed outside the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWashington is prioritizing domestic workers, with no real plan for the rest of us, when they all have access to U.S. health care,\u201d said one senior U.S. diplomat. \u201cAnd the reason they give \u2014 continuity of work \u2014 makes no sense. What about continuity of working in the field?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post noted that in China, \u201csome U.S. personnel have complained about being subjected to anal swab tests for the coronavirus by Chinese authorities.\u201d The invasive anal test appears to be a new method being used by the Chinese and started to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/live-news\/20210127-china-deploys-anal-swabs-to-test-for-covid-19\">news<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/roberthart\/2021\/01\/27\/china-deploys-anal-swab-tests-to-detect-high-risk-covid-19-cases\/?sh=c4c47446e818\">in<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/asia_pacific\/anal-swab-china-coronavirus\/2021\/01\/27\/cc284f56-6054-11eb-a177-7765f29a9524_story.html\">late<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/roberthart\/2021\/01\/27\/china-deploys-anal-swab-tests-to-detect-high-risk-covid-19-cases\/?sh=c4c47446e818\">January<\/a>, after Biden was inaugurated.
