Scott Applewhite)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In fact, Punchbowl <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/10\/former-elaine-luria-advisor-trashes-her-tone-deaf-political-judgement\/\">reported<\/a> that an\u00a0anonymous former adviser to\u00a0Luria was \u201cshocked\u201d at her response and trashed the congresswoman\u2019s political judgment as \u201ctone-deaf\u201d after saying a ban on congressional members trading stocks is \u201cbullshit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former\u00a0adviser said, \u201cLuria knows a lot about the Navy.\u201d But, her political judgment is \u201cNot particularly sound, as she made clear with these tone-deaf, goofy comments\u201d about members being allowed to trade stocks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, this unforced error pours gasoline on an inferno. You can already hear the Virginia GOP laughing their way to a pickup seat,\u201d the former advisor continued, noting that Luria\u2019s\u00a0military-heavy district is upset with\u00a0inflation. In fact, on Thursday, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/10\/january-cpi\/\">reported<\/a> that U.S. consumer prices rose by the most in nearly 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News reached out to Spanberger\u2019s office to find out if her tweet referred to Luria; however, her office did not respond.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Congress quickly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/18\/11-democrats-have-allegedly-violated-the-stock-act-of-2012\/\">passed<\/a> the STOCK Act\u00a0and signed it into law after receiving substantial bipartisan support in both chambers. The legislation was introduced and promptly signed into law thanks to Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer, who in 2011 released <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Throw-Them-All-Peter-Schweizer\/dp\/0547573146\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&#038;ie=UTF8&#038;qid=1333541848&#038;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\"><em>Throw Them All Out,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0exposing corruption in the highest echelons of elected life.<\/p>\n<p>Schweizer\u2019s book, which exposed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and many others, revealed corruption concerns among Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill, forcing Congress into adopting the STOCK Act that implemented stricter reporting and ethics requirements.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months there has been a push to put harsher restrictions on members who \u201cforgot\u201d to report stock trades. There is also a push to ban members and family members from trading any individual stocks. The bill\u00a0Spanberger referred to \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/336\/all-info\">TRUST in Congress Act<\/a> \u2014 would \u201crequire Members of Congress and their spouses and dependent children to place certain assets into blind trusts, and for other purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__blocks c-message_kit__blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"c-message__message_blocks c-message__message_blocks--rich_text\" data-qa=\"message-text\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer\" data-qa=\"block-kit-renderer\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper--first\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_block\" dir=\"auto\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_section\"><i data-stringify-type=\"italic\">Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
