Hopkins \u201centhusiastically\u201d supported Biden\u2019s presidential campaign in 2020 but has soured on the president as an unchallenged nominee.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Corbin Trent, a former senior aide to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), echoed Hopkins\u2019s analysis. \u201cIf it looks like it\u2019s going to be a free-for-all, then I think it\u2019s going to be back to the 24-person primary,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have been split by Biden\u2019s leadership. On the one hand, far-left radicals have swayed the administration towards policies that are stifling the nation, such as energy dependence, inflation, immigration, and crime.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, less radical Democrats are trying to survive the midterms in less blue districts, whose constituents are skeptical of the far-left agenda. For instance, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who is from a state that nearly voted for Donald Trump over Biden by 40-points, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/04\/12\/failed-act-fast-enough-manchin-publicly-slams-joe-biden-inflation\/\">opposed<\/a> many of Biden\u2019s radical policies. Manchin is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/04\/12\/failed-act-fast-enough-manchin-publicly-slams-joe-biden-inflation\/\">responsible<\/a> for sinking Biden\u2019s costly \u201cBuild Back Better\u201d agenda. He has also supported the fossil fuel industry during its war with the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>But far-left Democrats have slammed Manchin for \u201cblocking progress.\u201d When Manchin opposed \u201cBuild Back Better,\u201d Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) <a href=\"https:\/\/tlaib.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/congresswoman-tlaib-statement-manchin-s-bbb-no-vote-announcement\">blamed<\/a> him for failing the radical agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt should not surprise anyone that Senator Joe Manchin went on Fox News to kill the Build Back Better Act \u2013 he\u2019s been promising to do it for months, and some folks did not want to believe him,\u201d she said. \u201cPresident Joe Biden\u2019s policy agenda has been scuttled by Joe Manchin. Progress for the American people has been halted by Joe Manchin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden has not been able to satisfy either side of his party. Hopkins believes this division is the reason Biden will be primaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople went into his first term thinking it would be the left that would be the ones that would cause trouble and make his life more difficult, but instead it\u2019s the moderates, the people he\u2019s supposed to know the best,\u201d Hopkins said. \u201cProgressives have really carried the water for him and have really been an ally in a way that I think most people wouldn\u2019t have expected,\u201d he added. \u201cHe owes a lot of his political victories to the left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s lack of perceived progress among his party has contributed to his terrible polling numbers. Within his own party, Biden\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/graphics.reuters.com\/USA-BIDEN\/POLL\/nmopagnqapa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">holds<\/a>\u00a0just a 77 percent approval rating. In contrast, Donald Trump\u2019s GOP approval rating was in the mid-nineties for most of his presidency. Overall, Just 16 percent of Americans strongly approved of Biden, and 40 percent strongly\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=00000180-2157-dc58-a78d-27ff53030000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disapproved<\/a>\u00a0of Biden.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Biden\u2019s sagging polls are potentially another indicator that he may gain a primary challenger.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment media seems to be aware of the president\u2019s tenuous situation. For months, it has promoted Biden as not running in 2024 while promoting Harris and Clinton as legitimate 2024 contenders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe left is already looking to 2024. Some want to see a Biden primary challenge,\u201d A <em>Politico<\/em> headline <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/01\/01\/progressives-2024-primary-challenge-526299\">ran<\/a> in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"StandardHeader__title\">\u201cBiden Deserves a Primary Challenger,\u201d the Daily Beast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/biden-deserves-a-primary-challenger\">wrote<\/a> in February. In March, USA Today\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/2021\/03\/29\/joe-biden-zero-chance-run-for-reelection-2024-column\/7036849002\/\">headlined<\/a>, \u201cThere\u2019s zero chance Joe Biden will run in 2024.
