The unrelenting push for leftism in America\u2019s schools has not been organic, but ushered in by influential organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The Progressive Education Network, which advocates for an openly leftwing approach to education in both government and private schools, is one such organization. PEN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/progressiveeducationnetwork.org\/mission\/\">mission<\/a> is to harness \u201cthe dynamic power of progressive practice for the next generation of students, schools, and democracy.\u201d To this end, they aim to \u201cnurture citizens in an increasingly diverse democracy.\u201d The organization also expresses a \u201ccommitment to diversity, equity, and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PEN also obviously intends to exert its ideological will on the American social and political landscape. Its website notes that the organization \u201cresponds to contemporary issues from a progressive educational perspective\u201d and \u201cencourages progressive educators to play an active role in guiding the educational vision of our society.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"pen-s-partner-schools-push-leftwing-extremism-across-the-country\"><strong>PEN\u2019s Partner Schools Push Leftwing Extremism Across The Country<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>PEN is <a href=\"https:\/\/progressiveeducationnetwork.org\/partners\/\">partnered<\/a> with at least 114 different schools whose missions and pedagogies are \u201cguided specifically by progressive principles and practices.\u201d Some of the schools\u2019 websites openly note their status as a \u201cprogressive school,\u201d while others make no explicit mention of their partnership with the Progressive Education Network.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Many of the schools do, however, boast of their adherence to leftwing dogmas such as critical race and gender theory. The Galloway School, for example, publicizes its left-wing approach to education on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallowayschool.org\/community-life\/diversity-inclusion\">website<\/a>. The Atlanta-based K-12 school is affiliated with the left-wing National Association of Independent Schools and hosts an Intersectional Feminist Book Club, a Minority Empowerment Forum, and a club called Spectrum, which discusses \u201cissues of gender and sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Galloway also hosts racially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallowayschool.org\/community-life\/diversity-inclusion\">segregated events<\/a> for parents. One of these groups, called \u201cAspiring Antiracists,\u201d is for white parents who want to \u201cconfront anti-Black racism and unconscious bias\u201d that the school says is \u201cwithin us as individuals and within the systems we inhabit.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The website notes that Aspiring Antiracists works with both the school\u2019s office of diversity, equity, and inclusion and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallowayschool.org\/community-life\/great-scots\/focus\">Families of Color United for Success<\/a>, which is intended for \u201cfamilies or students at The Galloway School who identify themselves as people of color.\u201d The school even partners with an organization called New American Pathways to aid in <a href=\"http:\/\/newamericanpathways.org\/volunteers-of-the-month-the-galloway-school\/\">refugee resettlement<\/a> in Atlanta.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Galloway School is just one of the more than 100 schools that partners with PEN. The Miquon School, also affiliated with the NAIS, is located in Pennsylvania. It also partners with the PEN and pushes a similar agenda. Staff at Miquon read the book \u201cI Am Jazz,\u201d the story of a transgender child, to kindergarten students.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miquon <a href=\"https:\/\/miquon.org\/miquon-life\/diversity\/book-as-a-tool-for-diversity\/\">brags<\/a> that the reading prompted the kindergarteners to \u201cfreely explore in the dress up area, to confidently act in theatrical roles across genders, and to respect the gender fluidity of our community members.\u201d The school notes that these readings are used as a\u00a0\u201cprovocation for deeper understandings about differences\u201d such as those relating to \u201cgender identity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Massachusetts\u2019s Cambridge School of Weston is a member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csw.org\/about-us\/who-we-are\">NAIS<\/a> and is partnered with PEN. It too has pushed left-wing doctrines on its students, and has even embedded leftwing doctrines into its curriculum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The school requires students to fulfill a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csw.org\/academics\/academic-program\/social-justice-requirement\">social justice requirement<\/a> in order to graduate. In order to fulfill this requirement, a course must examine \u201chistorical and contemporary issues from the perspectives of non-western cultures and\/or historically oppressed groups,\u201d \u201cstructures of power and privilege \u2014 their history, causes, and effects,\u201d or \u201cmodels of social change, with the goal of advancing human rights and equity,\u201d the site reads.<\/p>\n<p>The Cambridge School of Weston also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csw.org\/student-life\/social-justice-and-multicultural-programming\">hosts<\/a> affinity groups centered around students\u2019 racial and gender identities and has a racial equity task force.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"pen-s-leadership-overlaps-with-nais\"><strong>PEN\u2019s Leadership Overlaps With NAIS<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>PEN\u2019s mission and activities are unabashedly left-wing, and have affected the larger and more powerful National Association for Independent Schools, which is responsible for the accreditation of more than 1,600 K-12 private schools throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>There is significant overlap between the member schools of PEN and the NAIS, displaying ideological agreement between the two groups. The overlap between their leadership displays more extensive collaboration and ideological agreement between the organizations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chris Thinnes is on the <a href=\"https:\/\/progressiveeducationnetwork.org\/board\/\">board<\/a> of PEN and on the NAIS\u2019s advisory council on diversity. According to the bio for his blog, he is also a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/educolor.org\/\">EduColor<\/a> collective, which \u201cmobilizes advocates nationwide around issues of educational equity, agency, and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Galloway School\u2019s Head, Dr. James Calleroz White, has been on the NAIS\u2019s board of trustees for approximately oen year. White, along with Galloway\u2019s chief diversity officer Karen Bradberry, are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nais.org\/participate\/institutes-workshops\/diversity-leadership-institute\/\">listed<\/a> as faculty for the NAIS Diversity Leadership Institute Seminar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Theressa Collins is an emeritus member of PEN and co-directs the organization\u2019s flagship professional development activity, NiPEN. She\u2019s also the upper school principal of the St. Paul Academy and Summit School, which sends students and staff members to multiple different woke conferences hosted by the NAIS, including the People of Color Conference, which was co-founded by a former <a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/resources\/the-national-association-of-independent-schools-nais\/\">Black Panther<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Although they exist as two separate entities and frame their objectives in different ways, the Progressive Education Network and the National Association of Independent Schools seem to share a common goal: to indoctrinate America\u2019s schoolchildren with extreme left-wing beliefs on race and gender.<\/p>\n<p>The Progressive Education Network, The Galloway School, The Miquon School, and The Cambridge School of Weston did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">\n  Spencer Lindquist is an intern at The Federalist and a senior at Pepperdine University where he studies Political Science and Rhetoric and Leadership and serves as Pepperdine\u2019s College Republicans President.
