The posts both shared a screenshot of a tweet from Lila Rose, president of the pro-life organization Live Action, that stated the law legalizes abortion up until birth.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook cited an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politifact.com\/factchecks\/2022\/apr\/07\/facebook-posts\/no-colorado-law-does-not-allow-abortions-until-mom\/?fbclid=IwAR0YW3BG5OQbdh_MP8aJhzmE_LSyL4jjohzCJZ2aFhT_af2dc4s54MEv6Yo#sources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> from PolitiFact, which is on the social media giant&#8217;s independent fact-check team, to justify its action. The fact-check claims Rose&#8217;s statement is false because women in Colorado could already get late term abortions before the bill established it as a right, and because late-term abortions are rare.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Colorado&#8217;s new law codifies existing protections around an individual&#8217;s right to use or refuse contraceptives, continue with a pregnancy and give birth, or to have an abortion,&#8221; PolitiFact reporter Sara Swann wrote. &#8220;Abortions that occur later in a pregnancy\u2014at 21 weeks gestation or later\u2014are rare. We rate this claim False.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Colorado&#8217;s abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/abortion-reporting-colorado-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> show that in 2020 there were 217 abortions performed between 22 and 24 weeks of pregnancy and 6 performed after 28 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Haley slammed Facebook over the censored posts, saying the social media company uses fact checks to push a political agenda.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s pathetic these \u2018fact checkers&#8217; are twisting the truth when it comes to such an important issue,&#8221; Haley told the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic-controlled state legislatures in Vermont and New Jersey this year recognized abortion on demand as a right, joining more than a dozen states that have similar measures.
