The charges are reportedly in connection with a past campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lieutenant governor, who had been considered a rising political star after he was chosen by Gov. Hochul, faces bribery and other charges,\u201d ABC News 7 <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/brian-benjamin-lieutenant-governor-new-york-lieutennant-federal-bribery-conspiracy\/11740610\/\">added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to appear in federal court in Manhattan sometime on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>NBC News 4 provided more details<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/ny-lt-gov-brian-benjamin-arrested-for-alleged-campaign-finance-fraud-scheme-sources\/3619365\/?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_NYBrand\"> regarding his alleged crimes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>His arrest comes after reports\u00a0that Manhattan federal prosecutors and the FBI were investigating whether Benjamin knowingly engaged in a campaign finance fraud scheme.
