He advised that extending the mandate\u00a0was ultimately \u201ca CDC decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Host Savannah Guthrie asked Jha if he thought the mandate should be extended given the latest rise in cases.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is a decision that the CDC director, Dr. Walensky, is going to make,\u201d Jha stated. \u201cI know the CDC is working on developing a scientific framework for how to answer that. We\u2019re going to see that framework come out, I think, in the next few days. And based on that, we\u2019re going to want to be guided by this decision. Throughout the entire pandemic, we\u2019ve wanted to make decisions based on the evidence and science. And that is what I expect we\u2019ll do again this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guthrie asked if that meant extending the mandate was on the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, this is a CDC decision,\u201d Jha replied. \u201cAnd I think it is absolutely on the table. And Dr. Walensky is going to make her decision based on the framework that the CDC scientists create.
