It\u2019s that simple,\u201d the post <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Adbusters\/status\/1511763155164098561\">said<\/a>, adding if they organized, \u201cwe can hit enough SUVs in particular neighborhoods to spark reporting and spread the metameme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Adbusters\/status\/1511835979971121154\">continued<\/a> in a subsequent post, \u201cStart by targeting wealthy areas\u2014our goal isn\u2019t to disrupt workers\u2014and avoid targeting vehicles with disabled stickers or hangers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adbusters also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Adbusters\/status\/1511771474520014850\">claimed<\/a> \u201cclimate change\u201d was the \u201cbiggest crisis we\u2019ve faced as a species,\u201d adding it was time to \u201ccarefully escalate\u201d its methods.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, social media users criticized the group\u2019s plan, one person <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FezziwigVon\/status\/1513188616981430279\">writing<\/a>, \u201cSo you want a bunch of people to needlessly drive to an area to vandalize vehicles to reduce emissions. Winning strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnow what I\u2019m going to do if you do this to me? Be very annoyed, have less sympathy for your movement, and buy new tires which will waste more oil,\u201d yet another <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CyrionF\/status\/1512928339715104775\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTampering with someone\u2019s private vehicle is dangerous and can result in a serious accident,\u201d yet another person <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jace_2476\/status\/1513220446468157442\">replied<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, a group of eco-extremists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/04\/02\/eco-extremists-claim-credit-for-deflating-tyres-of-2000-suvs\/\">claimed<\/a> credit for deflating tires on thousands of SUVs in Britain as a way to supposedly \u201chelp save the environment,\u201d Breitbart News reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A climate change activist group who refer to themselves as the Tyre Extinguishers claim that, over the past month, they have taken the air out of 2,000 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs).<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>With Spring weather approaching in Britain, eco-activism has begun emerging from its annual state of hibernation. Aside from the tyre-deflating antics of the \u2018Extinguishers\u2019, another group, dubbed Just Stop Oil has begun <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/04\/01\/uk-green-activists-blockade-10-key-oil-depots-and-terminals-as-energy-prices-soar\/\">imposing<\/a> road blockades around key oil depots and terminals across the country in order to disrupt shipments of much-needed energy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Adbusters group\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Adbusters\">said<\/a> it was comprised of activists, writers, artists, designers, hackers, tricksters, poets, philosophers, and punks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A radical environmental group encouraged followers to deflate SUV tires as a way to fight so-called \u201cclimate change,\u201d but received backlash on social media.
