Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in 2022 midterm swing states.<\/p>\n<p>In the swing states of Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2022\/04\/11\/republican-senate-primary-polling-trump-endorsement\/\">leads<\/a> McConnell by large double digits, according to a Morning Consult poll.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>In Georgia, Trump holds a 39-point lead over McConnell (86-47 percent.) In North Carolina, Trump has a 41-point lead (87-46 percent). Trump\u2019s popularity is 44 points greater in Ohio than McConnell\u2019s (80-36 percent). And in\u00a0Pennsylvania Trump enjoys a 41-point lead over McConnell (77-36 percent).<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s overwhelming popularity compared to McConnell\u2019s comes as the two spar over midterm races. McConnell has supported many of the candidates that Trump has opposed, including Democrat-allied Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).<\/p>\n<p>Harriet Hageman, opponent of Liz Cheney, and Kelly Tshibaka, opponent of Murkowski, are endorsed and funded by Trump in a GOP proxy war. The competitive midterm races indicate just how weak McConnell has become in the Republican Party. Both Cheney and Murkowski are fighting for their political lives after actively opposing Trump during his presidency.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>While Trump enjoys huge approval ratings among Republicans, the same cannot be said of McConnell. Axios\u2019s Jonathan Swan asked McConnell during an interview on Thursday why Republicans hate him. \u201cWhy do they hate you?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/04\/07\/mitch-mcconnell-is-asked-why-republicans-hate-him\/\">responded<\/a> by suggesting his approval rating is so low because he is a great leader. \u201cMy job is not to run up political popularity nationally,\u201d McConnell answered.<\/p>\n<p>A December Gallup poll\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/358373\/justice-roberts-tops-federal-leaders-americans-approval.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a>\u00a052 percent of Republicans disapproved of the job McConnell is doing as a leader. In comparison, Donald Trump\u2019s favorability\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/24\/nolte-donald-trumps-favorability-rating-tops-every-national-political-figure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rating<\/a>\u00a0is much better than every national political figure and notably greater than McConnell\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Favorable \/ Unfavorable \/ Spread<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trump: 45 \/ 50.6 \/ -5.6<\/li>\n<li>Biden: 42.5 \/ 52.8 \/ -10.3<\/li>\n<li>Harris: 36.5 \/ 56 \/ -15.5<\/li>\n<li>McConnell: 24.3 \/ 57.8 \/ -33.5<\/li>\n<li>McCarthy: 23.7 \/ 40.3 \/ -16.6<\/li>\n<li>Pelosi: 34.4 \/ 56.6 \/ -22.2<\/li>\n<li>Schumer: 29 \/ 46.0 \/ -17.7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s failing GOP popularity is a reflection of his leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Under McConnell\u2019s tenure,\u00a0the national debt has\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thebalance.com\/national-debt-by-year-compared-to-gdp-and-major-events-3306287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">risen<\/a>\u00a0by nearly $20 billion, illegal immigration has continued, and real wages for American workers have not grown since the 1970s. Obamacare was enacted in 2010, big banks were bailed out in 2008, and social media companies have silenced individuals without repercussions.<\/p>\n<p>In October, McConnell\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/06\/democrats-accept-republican-cave-debt-ceiling\/\">caved<\/a>\u00a0to Democrats\u2019 demands and raised the debt ceiling, enabling Democrats to forward President Joe Biden\u2019s Build Back Better agenda.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, McConnell may lose his leadership position. Several Republican Senate candidates have vocally spoken against McConnell\u2019s reelection to Senate GOP leader. Trump has reportedly asked Sen.
